Predatory subscription practices
The app gave the impression I had canceled my trial membership when I went to view it in my account by telling me that I had canceled, then charged me $150 the next day
Speech for what??
Not worth it and it does not read the things you want it to. Save your download.
Stole my money
I tried the trial and with it being the holiday season I just forgot to cancel. They refused, yes them and apple to refund my money. $147.69 they stole and I have not nor will I ever use the app.
The long forced unskipable intro ruins the app.
It literally complains at you if you turn the volume down during the longest forced intro for an app I have ever experienced, it’s unskipable and basically just a really long unskipable obnoxious ad for the app you have already downloaded. It’s basically just a long ad for all the celebrity voices they have, I thought it would be cool but the intro made me want to delete the app it was so embarrassing.
Why???
I love this app but due to my disorder I can't focus on robotic voice, if you would even so much as make one premium voice free that would be amazing
The price is not right.
Would be amazing technology, but the price is not right for the average consumer.
Please don’t change the Vietnamese dialects
Just, wow. I appreciate you having both northern and southern Vietnamese dialects, especially the southern one. There’s not a lot of online resources that speak southern Vietnamese. My family from central and south Vietnam are too busy to teach me and I’m too afraid to get help from my Vietnamese community. Although there’s a few good southern Vietnamese resources out there, there are priorities in my life that makes me too busy to sit through every premade lesson. Using this makes it so much faster to get the dialect down since I can grab a southern Vietnamese text and plug it in to practice reading and speaking it. I am also adhd and autistic, so adjusting the listening speed however I like while listening while reading and seeing the highlighted text while it speaks helps engage me and makes it so much easier to learn and retain. It’s such a great investment to improve myself to connect and help relatives and my Vietnamese community.
Removed features
Speechify used to have highlighting, note-taking, and bookmarking features that were added in 2020 but which they’ve chosen to remove…while continuing to charge the same price. Per Speechify support, “I regret to inform you that currently, the highlighting, note-taking and bookmarking features are not supported in Speechify.” Useless.
Did Not Want Service - Company Would Not Issue Refund After Trial
I requested a refund after learning my bank account was charged. I requested a refund and was denied. I can’t afford a $139.99 subscription. Did not use application after 3 day trial period.
