----------
How it works:

2. Record yourself on the microphone.
3. Get feedback within 24 hours.
4. (Soon) Have others think you're native.
----------
The Speechling Method
With a foundation in our mission, the Speechling Method uses a combination of technology and human coaching to help our students learn new languages.
We place an emphasis on speaking, because of the lack of free and affordable tools for helping people speak. By breaking down spoken language barriers, we hope to increase access to education, employment opportunities, and a better quality of life.
----------
Immersion
As a technology platform, we’re available as an educational tool 24/7. Speechling uses spaced repetition and sophisticated algorithms to let our users practice from thousands of sentences with real human voices from both genders.
----------
Personal Feedback
As a personal tutoring service, our certified pronunciation coaches give feedback on your speaking within 24 hours. Advanced students can answer a question or describe an image, and we will give feedback similar to what a private tutor will provide.

My coach Giulia is awesome. It would be nice to have better mode for general feedback, along with specific pronunciation feedback.

Speechling allows for self paced lessons and does not waste one’s attention with noise and graphics. Vocabulary is adult and practical for learners with a basic understanding of a given language.

Amazing

I love all the features in this app! They are super practical and comprehensive for beginners. Especially the dictation and testing features.

Absolutely the best

I didn’t realize how terrible I was at speaking Spanish, until I tried to be speechling. It doesn’t matter how much I study vocabulary and grammar, and learn to listen to Spanish. Not practicing speaking Spanish. I left my speaking skills terribly bad. Speechling is the perfect tool for remediating that situation. I’ve seen nothing else quite like it.

Great App

As an intermediate in reading and listening but abysmal at speaking my TL this app is perfect. The only thing I wish it had was automatic playback of the native speaker after recording yourself in study mode. On the desktop website, when you record yourself in study mode it will replay your recording and then also the native recording. This is very useful to hear differences in pronunciation. However, in the app, for whatever reason, you have to manually press play on the native recording to play it back. I wish it were automatic like the website.

Everything is here. Can be confusing to begin with, but once you get it all figured out…Sky is the limit.

Je l’aime bien!

I enjoy listening to the recordings to practice my comprehension. I enjoy learning new verbs. I even sent my own recordings of my own unique sentences for feedback and usually receive them within a day. Je t’apprécie, Karen. Je m’améliore mon français.

So far, so good

I haven’t used this app for a long time yet, but I think it will end up being incredibly useful. I’m currently learning Spanish and I use a workbook/textbook and flascards for vocabulary and grammar. I watch shows in Spanish with English subtitles in order to get more exposure to the language in a more natural context. All of this is working well for me, but I wanted a way to test my pronunciation. Enter Speechling. The app has numerous features but I mainly use to practice my speaking. The free version of the app presents vocabulary and sentences and allows you to record your own voice so you can compare the voice actor’s pronunciation to your own. Then, you can “score” your card in a spaced-repetition manner. This is great for what I need. So far, it looks like there is a lot of material to work with so it should take me far. As other reviews have mentioned, the UI is dated, but it works well on both my iPad Pro and iPhone. My only concern is that there is not a way to backup my progress. I hope that there isn’t a bug that will reset everything because I intend to use this app a lot. The premium version seems nice. It pairs you with a native speaker of the language that you are trying to learn. You can share your audio recordings with this person so they can provide feedback on your pronunciation. I like the idea of this, but it cost $30 a month to upgrade. That seems a bit steep to me, so for now, I’m going to stick to the free version. The free version limits you to sharing 10 recordings a month. I really think the free version is going to be enough for my needs, and I look forward to sharing my progress with all of you in the future.
