Sprite Something FAQ
Is Sprite Something free?
Yes, Sprite Something is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Sprite Something legit?
🤔 The Sprite Something app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
This is hands down my best app investment so far.
Sprite Something allows me to practice pixelart wherever I am, on whichever device i might have handy. The cross-device support is superb. The controls become very natural, very quickly.
I bought the os x version as well and the app scales beautifully for desktop spriting. I contacted support due to an issue I had (human error on my side) and received a detailed reply on how to get things running smoothly. Great support.
Highly recommended!
No Updates in 7 years…
Is this app no longer supported or running on current iOS?
Was a cool app…
Keeps freezing and crashing since last iOS update
On any given day, I would rate Sprite Something 5-stars. It’s truly the BEST program to draw and animate 2D sprites for game development. Unfortunately, since the most recent iOS update - Sprite Something now has random freezes/crashes that completely wipe the progress you’ve made on a sprite. When these freezes/crashes don’t occur, it’s a fantastic program worth the asking price. I have been using Sprite Something for quite some time on my iPhone 11 Pro Max, and I don’t want to switch to another sprite creation app. Please, please — fix the issues plaguing this release! By the next major iOS upgrade (if no fixes ever materialize to address the aforementioned issues), I fear Sprite Something will end becoming another broken app that was once considered great, but could have been so much more.
Was great…until no longer able to export your art work
Been using this app for indie 2D game art for 6 years! It has been great for what I use it for, HOWEVER the app does not appear to be updated anymore by its developer! Now you cannot export your art work at all anymore. The email export no longer works and the drop box export no longer works at least not with IOS 13 and newer which excludes anyone with I phone 8 and up!
Great for knocking out 8 bit fonts
Sprite Something is great for making fonts, each character occupying one frame of a sheet.
It would be five stars if there was a modern export option, such as integration with Files. I couldn’t get the Dropbox integration to work, and email is clumsy, making it hard to get the sprites into other applications on an iOS device.
Five stars for Files integration :)
I hope to see an iPadOS 13 update
This is still one of my favorite pixel art apps, I’d like to see an update for the latest iPadOS and iPad Pro screens. Sadly, the last update was 4 years ago, so I may have to look for alternatives.
Doesn’t Work On New Update
I have sadly backed up as good practices all except the one Sheet I actually need. Ever Since I updated my phone my files have their name but are completely inoperable. Used to be the best app and now I am gonna feel bad when I hear from friends I recommended this to.
I LOVE IT SO THERE.
For what it does it is a work of art. I hope the designer might come back and update. I have made some great stuff with this including a Bullet Bill knockoff and a couple of cartoon characters. Get it!
Animation
I made a animation and I wanted to edit so I clicked it and nothing happened I did that like 30 times and nothing happened 0stars.Its a ripoff don’t buy it
