First there was the Exodus – when survivors of a great war left the ruins of the Galactic Core behind in search of a new home in the stars. Scattered worlds were claimed on the fringe of the galaxy. Each pocket of survivors held on to an isolated set of worlds while trying to rebuild under the great law of Shalun. Three centuries later, technology has brought them back together again. Discovery of the hyperwarp has bridged what was once an unimaginable distance between far-flung colonies, long-lost families, and political factions.

With that reunification has come great economic prosperity. The hyperwarp reestablished the transportation of cargo, goods, and technologies between the quadrants – but it has also brought great strife. Political rivalries have been rekindled, blood has been shed in age-old feuds, and the fires of war have been stoked. Amidst the political infighting, a ruthless revolution is rising – and the fervent explorers of the hyperwarp have awoken something that was better left asleep.

Our very first game, Star Traders RPG, took hundreds of thousands of gamers on an interstellar adventure. Star Traders’ success and overwhelmingly positive reception helped to launch Trese Brothers Games. It was the adventures of our community’s star-crossed captains that put us on a trajectory to share more of our worlds, ideas, and dreams.

We set out to capture the loneliness, bravery, and camaraderie of people living together in a spaceship sailing across the stars. It is with great pride that after releasing four other games in the Star Traders universe, we’ve created a sequel to the original Star Traders RPG.

Step onto the bridge of your starship, take to the stars, and create your own story in Star Traders: Frontiers.

Fantastic game

Richie V1 on

So much depth and has been well supported by the developers for years.

Great Game

Tripper Monster on

Always getting updated, haven’t come across any major, game destroying bugs or glitches, however the guy isn’t there for the reward in ‘Freedom Calling’ after you liberate the guy. Also, would love to see the ownership of multiple, functioning ships. I understand that this game isn’t about fleet management, however it would be natural for a prosperous character to create a fleet of ships, not only for the potential revenue return, but to cement and grow their power. Also Brokstrom should offer missions, especially if the player sided with her. Edited: It is difficult to read some character information in combat, and planet information on the map screen, due to the screen appearing halfway off screen. Please fix.

A good effort but lacks playability

ChrisMonsour on

You can see a large amount of development has gone into this game but the overall net effect is clumsy. The features I liked about this game was the ship to ship and group to group combat, the depth of options in character and ship development and the ability to interact with the galaxy on a variety of dimensions including trade. I also really liked that it had an upfront fee and didn’t seek to gouge the player for further cash. However, I got to the point after hours of play that the game became boring, the dialogue repetitive and channeling and the interfaces a little boring. Sometimes you really want a game to work and I definitely did hope that this would be a great game as it had potential, but I must conclude that it misses the mark. Others will have different experiences but I’ve played some great games that I’ve played for years but this unfortunately will be deleted.

Simple and kind of boring

JTSTARLORD on

I really don’t get the 5 starers. This game is in the end rather simple and boring. The story is quite decent, so if you’re after a 2D text based story set in space, with small text even on an Xs Max screen, then sure, consider this. After the story, the rest of the “gameplay” is very, very light; Ship combat is just rounds of select your weapons and select one skill to use and press end turn and watch it play out. Crew combat is kind of similar. Just super basic. Nothing at all is very specific or thought provoking in the combat. The story just has you go about from check point to check point with some story filler in between for reason. These checkpoints are “planets” which might sound interesting but it’s just the same menu screen at each with the same options at every one, sometimes full options available, some times less options due to your reputation with that factions planet.......... How interesting. Jump to a planet, press the buttons to fill up your: Fuel, hull health, crew health, moral, recruit some new crew, and maybe upgrade your ship if you’ve gathered the $. For an idea. Halcyon 6 I find is a kind of ok space sim/combat game. Well Halcyon 6 has way more fleshed out combat, and essentially has a similar fetch quest mission system without the faffle of a “story” in tiny small text. And I’m bored thinking about this so I’ll end here. But honestly I don’t know who 5 stars this. I mean lol at the dead that said “probably the best 4K game on mobile right now”. (Which I think that reviewer means to say 4X, not 4K). I mean, no, just no. Like, what about Civ VI!? Or even just Civ Rev 2! Heck, Halcyon 6 is much better like I already outlined. 2 stars from me because I see these guys update the game. Though that update really I think is just expansion of end game story stuff. Nothing to actually increase the (lack of) gameplay depth here.

Great Great Game

Cimegs5088 on

Great great game for 4K lovers! I actually back the game in Kickstarter few years back but didn’t have time to play until recently as I got more time due to lockdown. I can’t believe what I have been missing all these years! Everyone would love different aspects of the game, it’s such a solid game with depth, probably the best 4K game on mobile devices now. Only thing I would love to point out though is the saved games and achievement not being shared across iOS devices. I have unlocked about half of the achievements in game, but after reinstalling the app, aside from losing all my saved games, I will also need to unlock everything again, even though Game Center showing that I’ve already unlock those achievements. It can be a little frustrating.

A must have

Complete upgrade of the original

Uberschveinen on

If you played the first Star Traders game, this is as comprehensive an upgrade as is nearly possible. Characters went from one-note officer entries and a crew counter for a full-fledged party management system with complex stats and traits. Ship combat was heavily overhauled for vastly more weapons and effects, including a JRPG-style combat system for boarding and other crew combat, with complex skills management. Ships are more sophisticated, with radically more upgrades and a system offering genuine trade-offs and balances between ship classes and upgrades. Trading has been revised with new legality, permits, rarity and supply systems. The graphics have gone from something out of a DOS game to pretty respectable. But most significantly, a new system of contacts, missions, and story missions adds vastly more to actually do in the sandbox. It is significantly better in every single way. If you never played the original, none of that is important. What matters is that this is currently the stand-out best space captain game on phone systems currently available.
