Star Walk Reviews

Great app fallen to the ads.

Absolutely fantastic app, had great memories of using this app with my mother when I was young. On its own it is incredible which keeps me from placing it at 0 stars. Upon trying it out again years later, it’s nearly unusable without paying for a subscription service. You get MAYBE 15-20 seconds between advertisements, each lasting longer than that. Turning this app into more of an advertisement watching app than a stargazing one. I despise subscription services, as they are inherently scummy. They prey on forgetfulness. I love this app but I just cannot see myself using an app that takes advantage of its users like this.

Too busy, unreadable

Title. This app used to be amazing. Now, it's too busy, and there's no way to discern one star from another, when they are clearly distinguishable by the naked eye as being brighter from one another. You point your phone at a star or planet you're interested in, but there's no way to know you are pointing at the correct one, and the text is so small you can't read it, when you zoom in everything glitches out and you were cursing at your phone.

Funny

I’ve had this app and the first version for years now and I’ve noticed a few things that raise some questions. A few years ago this app saw the edition of a “hypothetical planet” One with a deep space orbit much like that of the so called “nibiru”. This in itself was strange as I had thought this app to be factual to the best of human knowledge. It has since been removed and a long drawn out explanation about “nibiru” being a creation of some one’s imagination or quest for 15 minutes of fame. It’s all very interesting and I am curious who’s agenda this app is pushing.

Never have written an app review in my life

I used to love this app. My mom had it on her iPad when I was younger and we loved to use it together, a lot of memories. Reinstalled it on my device now that I am an adult. I was using it for less than 3 minutes and got 3 30 second ads. After the second ad I considered buying the yearly subscription but another 30 second ad popped up while trying to navigate to the subscription screen, nope! Not going to watch your ad to give you money on the way to the screen to give you more money. Sad that they spam you with ads to get you to purchase instead of just providing a product that’s worth purchasing like they used to.

This used to be an amazing app. Now there are so many ads that it’s unusable.

Beautiful, so useful. So many options.

4/8/24. Thank you for this app. I used it for years. I must have paid for the extra info. I don’t have ads, I have full access to everything. So long ago. I just introduced it to three friends. I show them the astroid Gaspra, the first picture of an asteroid ever taken, that we took as engineers on the NASA/JPL Galileo interplanetary spacecraft on our journey to Jupiter. I was the shift’s lead system engineer during the closest approach (CA), We also took the Ida pictures show here. Fantastic to share close and far parts of the universe. I also see one of my favorite galaxy's, The Sombrero, so magnificent. You also include the working Aqua Weather Satellite trajectory that I worked on before it was launched. It has an orbit of 90 minites around the earth - polar to polar. . One of several on programs of Masa’s studies of earth climate. Best all. Jose M.

Blinds you with cheesy ads so you can’t see stars

Not lying here on

I forgot why I deleted this app, but here is why. Tonight, I wanted to identify what I am seeing in the very clear night sky after the starlink launch. I hold my iPad toward Orion and TA DA, an extremely bright video game ad pops up, temporarily making me unable to see Orion, let alone other less visible constellations. OK, they need money. I waited out the ads. My eyes adjusted to the night again. There are two stars directly overhead I couldn’t identify, so I lift my iPad into position and… another extremely bright cheesy ad. I hate this app.

Misleading and unfai

Paid for the app, but, instead of updating it, I get ads for the new (paid) star walk 2. How is this ok? Idk.

Ads are ridiculous

DSWISSWACHTER on

It’s impossible to rate this app as the ads completely take over the app and there is zero functionality without multiple layers of ads and hyperlinks…. Can’t even evaluate the quality to determine if it’s worth paying for so I’ll save some $$
