Stardew Valley Reviews

One word… Clunky

Jamie A Thomson on

Australia

I’m a massive fan of this game on PC, I’ve been playing this mobile version while on holidays away from my computer and I can’t help but be frustrated at how stupid and clunky the tap control system is. Many times it won’t register that I tapped something. Holding down my finger to charge up the tools is absolutely the worst because it’s impossible to aim it where I want to when tilling soil or watering. When in the mines if you try and eat food on a new floor it’s incredibly easy to accidentally exit up the ladder and lose all your progress. If you are near an enemy and the auto attack turns on it just completely ignores all of your inputs so your character can’t move or do anything else like break a rock in the way resulting in getting ‘stuck’ if you can’t hit the enemy. The menu panel in the museum donation is bugged and won’t display properly. Placing buildings doesn’t work at all unless you zoom right in. Picking up furniture accidentally is a daily annoyance. Randomly using a tool on my footpaths is also incredibly annoying having to replace the tile all the time. It’s just a bit sad to me that concerned apes masterpiece is so let down by the slack mobile publisher that really hasn’t hashed out a lot of issues with the controls.

Keeps crashing

I love this game but unfortunately it keeps crashing randomly and then I have to start the day all over again. It’s a little frustrating.

Stardew is the best game I’ve ever downloaded! Cheaper than Minecraft, and infinitely better. It’s the perfect mix of free play and story play. All the other characters are incredibly designed NPCs with intriguing backstories and diverse personalities, and it’s 110% your choice who you chose to be your friends! It’s not just farming either - you can go searching for treasures in the mines (although there may be more than treasure lurking down there...), foraging for rare items in the forest, completing small quests for the townsfolk, and there’s literally TONS more things to do! If you want, and it’s entirely optional, you can marry one of the NPCs and start a family. In total, there’s 12 marriage options (6 boys and 6 girls). But of course, if you don’t want to, you can live by yourself with your pets! Yes, it’s a risk, paying for games. But trust me, this is worth it. I almost never spend money on games, afraid I might not like the game or regret my purchase, so take it from me. Keep in mind that it’s not perfect and is better to play on Nintendo (the fishing is annoying, please fix that), but don’t overreact and write hate reviews about tiny little issues. I think the characters need a bit more depth, such as making the relationships between them shift like in real life. But, of all the games I’ve played, this one is the best for NPCs Overall, Stardew is an amazing game! I highly recommend it to anyone!

Best iOS port I’ve ever played

heskslsjdbanak on

Australia

Most iOS ports are nigh on unplayable without also lugging a controller around with you, this is in many ways better than the pc version. Whenever I go back I always miss how seamless everything is with the touch screen controls.

I cannot start the game

I've finished creating my character and outfit, but the game gets stuck when I try to proceed. The checkmark button is unresponsive. I've tried restarting the game, but the issue persists.

Awesome 🤩, but minor issue

I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH, the new update just made it even better too! ( I play on mobile). But every time I try to enter my chicken coop the game won’t let me. I go through the door and I can go no further, so my chickens are currently starving. I’m not sure if this glitch is because I’m playing the game on an apple iPad iOS or some other reason, my brother who also has this iPad can enter his coop just fine so I’m not sure why this issue keeps happening.

Addictive and fun, but please fix

Firstly, what a fantastic game! It is SO CUTE and ADDICTIVE, and has engaging storylines. The only negative feedback I have is that, starting from year 3 or 4, it has started randomly crashing (black screen) which makes me lose a whole day’s progress. The first time this happened, was right after I ate a meal at the Calico desert fest food tent, the second time was when trying to open an artifact trove. I found that if I re-load the game and repeat the same action, it happens again. From then on, it just happens randomly on the odd occasion. Not often enough to stop me from playing the game, but when it happens, it is so annoying.

1.6 is buggy

Been looking forward to the 1.6 update forever, unfortunately it’s a buggy mess. Will have to wait longer for bugs to be fixed. These are very obvious day 1 bugs too.. no idea how they got missed.

Obsessed but needs some updates

I avoided this game because it was 2D and it wasn’t ever my style. But I downloaded it and I’m obsessed, I’ve finished pretty much everything there is in this game. There’s no in game purchases which I like, so it’s fair on everyone. It took awhile to understand how to play it but all it took was a google search and there’s a whole wiki with all the info. If I had a PC I would add mods to this game to have more storyline’s, quests and more lines for the npc’s. PLEASE add some more depth to the npc’s, i would adore if there were more options to be able to talk to them and have more scenes with them. Eventually talking to them got boring because it would be the same thing, i also wish they could be more included in the gameplay, like you could adventure with them in certain areas, have more complex relationships or be able to dress them up or have conversations. I also wish the children could have an option to grow up and be able to customise them. This game is amazing and has so much potential. I’m really glad I played it. Just wish there was some more depth.
