Stay on Track is specifically designed for hikers, walkers and even cyclists - providing vital features that are sadly lacking from other mapping apps:
1. All the Hiking Tracks & 3D-like Contour Shading
Using data from OpenCycleMap, Stay on Track shows you all the tracks and trails, and even better, contour shading so you can easily see where the high ground and steep bits are! You can quickly switch between a library of maps, including Google Maps.
2. Crystal Clear Location Marker + Direction
Most mapping apps show your position with a dot, but Stay on Track uses a see-through marker so you can see exactly if you’re on the right track or not. Stay on Track also clearly shows which direction you're facing.
3. Offline Maps
Many mapping apps require mobile coverage to operate, but there's never any signal when you're out and about. With Stay on Track just view your route before you go - and it'll be there when you need it - even if you can't get data. That's because Stay on Track automatically stores everything you see in the app for later retrieval.
4. Automatic Crosshairs
It's hard to show those with you where you mean just by pointing with your finger. With Stay on Track, crosshairs automatically appear when you move the map. Now your fiends can see exactly where you mean! Stay on Track also shows bearing distance to that point.
5. Saves Battery
We all know GPS drains your battery. And many apps keep using GPS even when in background. Stay on Track only uses GPS when the app is on display. That way you have complete control - essential when you're getting low on battery and you need to get off that mountain!

Best mapping app for hikers!
I've tried quite a few apps, until I finally came across this one. It's fantastic. Elegant user interface and attention to detail, like the location cursor is a ring - not a dot - so you can see exactly where you are. I really like the contour shading and direction arrows too. I also use paper maps and so the grid reference screen is perfect for me - very cool feature! I'd recommend this app to all hikers and walkers - inexpensive too!

Great app for hikers and dog walkers!
I use this app all the time now when trying out new walks with my dog. It shows me exactly where I am in relation to the footpaths around me, which is very useful when the footpath is through the middle of a field with no obvious "path" to follow. Very highly recommended.
No need for WiFi
Stay on track is a great way to stop you from getting lost up mountains! It's easy to navigate and you don't need WiFi, which is great when you stuck up a mountain somewhere with no signal. Would be great to have a search bar on it though.
Where have you been all my life?
This is a great app for anyone who enjoys heading out for a walk but doesn't want the hassle or bother of carrying a map. I'm discovering routes nearby I never knew existed! The offline feature and battery saving are excellent too. Well worth it!
Brilliant straight forward
I was looking for a simple, straight-forward app that I could check in on from time to time whilst walking, just to make sure I was where I thought I was. And this app fits the bill perfectly! So easy to use and saves my phone battery too!
