App is in Japanese and not easy for foreigners to understand how to use
App is NOT available in any language but Japanese.
Got through the sign up easily enough, but jt declines both my Visa and my Mastercard. Very frustrating, as everything says I should be able to add it and pay without issue.
I was using Google Translate to translate the app, but you can only top up during hours of service. This app makes Japanese train travel impossible to pre-plan. This app need an English translation.
Works through Wallet app, but cannot add money from bank card to it, or charge at IC card machine in Japan oddly. May need Credit card / Japanese bank card to charge?
Sign up is tricky but, with some screenshotting and google translate, it can be done. After that you don’t have to touch the app - you can top up and use the card in Apple Wallet - couldn’t be easier!
I just set up mine in around 10 seconds, you download the app and then add the card to your wallet, nothing so tricky about it! Unless you’re scared of a few kanji and just like to conplain.
So after going through the extreme hassle of even setting up this mobile Suica, the app itself will randomly just stop me from logging in. The first time this happened I just reset my password, the second time it wouldn’t even let me do that said gave an explanation that my account is locked. So frustrating and this is before I’ve even visited the country. You’d think with the high levels of tourism they would make it easier for foreigners to use mobile devices to buy train tickets to reduce people having the queue to purchase tickets. Just bizarre.
It’s a japanese app… made in Japan… you can just use google translate and screenshot each page or even learn the japanese language, but no you all complain… once you get it working its a helpful app and easy to use
As soon as you install the app, check your Apple wallet and the Suica card is already there. You can top up the card directly from your Apple wallet and never have to interact with the app.
