I was looking for an app like this for a long time. It is literally perfect.

‘Regrets, I have a few..’ ..and one of them is not taking the time to get to know this software. I’m a long way away from total understanding, or even 50 percent but for me who loves sound creation, it’s all my real synths plus a gorgeous reverb and infinitely flexible wiring panel in my iPad. Maybe that’s why my 17 real synths haven’t been fired up in months.

Excellent way of making music

There's definitely a bit of a learning curve, though watching the author's short YouTube videos helped me to make sense of the controls and now I'm having a blast! Easily the most powerful and creative tracker, and I've tried so many! I especially like the export options.

I see Drambo gets a lot of love, why not SunVox which beats it into a cocked hat? SunVox is a tracker but it’s also a powerful modular system where you can build synths, multi layer samplers, effects, complex arpeggiator, virtually anything you can think of. You can build virtually anything you want in SunVox, there’s lots of help on the forum which is full of friendly people, modules to download and help from Alex the developer himself. There’s a reasonable size of modules but not too many, many of them have multiple uses. For example if you want to do some binary logic you apply some lateral thinking and use the Amplifier (OR), or use DC offset in the amplifier for example to make a NOT, or a latch. Build chorus modules with pitch shifters or vibrato modules etc. create feedback loops with the new feedback module and put delays in the loop etc etc. just apply a small amount of brain power and you can build anything. Want to do physical modelling synthesis? Yes you can in SunVox. Build your own mini ‘Wavestation’ that you load your own samples into. Yes you can in SunVox. Want to build complex FX chains ? Yes, you can in SunVox. Want to create per note per sample micro edits? Yes you can In SunVox. The tracker interface takes a little getting used up but give it some time. It’s very simple once you’re used to it. You don’t really need to understand hex or anything computery at all. It works in Aum with inter app audio or auv3 so you can use it as a synth (it responds to midi), you can use it as a sampler (you can create multi layer meta modules with multi samples), you can create a vector synth…whatever. You can use it as an AUV3 FX unit. And the arrange screen, it’s a tracker so it’s pattern based, now consider this is on an iPad. A lot of music styles you’ll be laying a lot of tracks. That becomes impractical in a standard DAW on a small iPad or iPhone screen. With SunVox being pattern based you can have 1 pattern, for example, containing maybe 8/drum tracks, that takes up very little screen space and makes things much more manageable when arranging. On top of that it’s under constant development, v2 is coming soon and it really does cost next to nothing, very light on resources and is an absolute steal.

& Nov 2020 update looks interesting but I’ve no clue as to what any of it means..(I’ve had this app for years, too..) Demos sound good, I suppose...(when I can figure out how to load them. The ui is perplex..) Some say it’s “retro” as if that’s a good thing. No, it isn’t..research indicates this was a desktop port from time ago, fine, but touching any of the screen elements either leave me stumped or feeling like i broke something.. Apparently an external keyboard is required because the “on-screen input is fiddly”. Fail! A half decent app allows me to stick to the iPad only if I want/need to. Others say “go find yutuub tutorials”, no, I should be able to at least figure something out for myself. I found blip interactive apps good in this regard.. (Nanostudio 1 & 2, which is well regarded by experts for having both accessibility AND depth (no mean feat) which I’ve found to be true).. Or else it’s “well, this apps got steep learning curve but stick with it for rewards!”, no, I have no time for numerous learning curves, how many more learning curves are required, really..can’t I just get on with making music, for once?.. Wait, what’s this. Auv3 as an effect in other daws, just added, interesting, let’s try ... and ... nope. No sound, no effects, no nothing. Still none the wiser...

Amazing that this has been made – it’s the exact same Sunvox program as on Windows / MacOS and runs perfectly on mobile. Brilliantly powerful tracker with in-app synth, effect, envelope modules which can be easily patched together. Great design, sounds, and endorsed by Sean Booth and Rob Brown from Autechre. Do things in this app you can’t do elsewhere. The learning curve is worth it .... TOTALLY ... One of the best apps for music making

I don’t know how people dislike this! This app lets you be creative. It does take some time to learn and to get a used to but once you’ve got a basic understanding, you’ll be set to make some decent songs! Stick with because everything will become second nature and soon enough you will be a master at SunVox! Please get this if you’re interested in music creation as it’s absolutely amazing and the best money I’ve spent on an app. Good luck with your songs!

I thought this was amazing when I installed it. I played around with it until I felt confident enough to compose a song, spent 3 hours creating something good, tweaking it and saving as I went along. Next time I opened the app I loaded my song and it was completely empty, 3 hours work vanished! What happened? The file is still there where I saved it, where is my work?? None of the samples load, waste of money!
