Description

Texas is home to over 16,000 historical markers. And now there's an app to help you find them!
Features:
-Onboard marker database means you can browse markers without an Internet connection.
-Browse markers by geographic locations including cities and counties.
-Browse markers by governing agencies; manufacturers; and topics.
-Browse attractions where markers can be found including museums; cemeteries; state parks; historic districts; etc.
-Uses Location Services in the background (optionally) and notifies you when you enter a different Texas county! (Continuous use of GPS may reduce battery life.)
-Keep track of marker visits!
-Update marker coordinates! (Device with GPS radio required)
-Record marker conditions!
-Includes conditions of marker where reported.
-Includes text for many markers with more being added frequently.
-Link marker records to existing pictures from your Photo Library! (Photos not included with app.)
-Share your favorite markers via Mail, and iMessage!
-Backup your user database to your computer using iTunes File Sharing. Backed up data includes: Markers you’ve checked in at; marker coordinates you’ve captured; favorite markers; flagged markers; shared markers; and markers you’ve browsed in the database.
Includes:
-Texas Centennial markers and monuments erected in 1936!

Map function crashes

Slow roller on

United States

When trying to view on map, app crashes. You can see map if start with directions. Would be useful to be able to see markers in area on a map.

Great app for TX travelers

Love this app when I travel around the state of Texas. Must have for any road tripper and history lover!

No search by number

cazanoggin on

United States

I wanted an app that I could use while driving. This one gives search by “title or subtitle” but not by number. If you want an app to search by number—this isn’t it.

Bug Update Needed

MirTyranda on

United States

Very excited about this app! Unfortunately it crashes when doing almost anything + major lag on tap-to-screen interactions (including keyboard typing). Please consider an update or fix! 🙏🏼

None of the historic markers were on the map

Soos19 on

United States

Driving down the highways of TX for the last two days and literally none of the historic markers we passed we in this app. Waste of money. Plus it crashes when I try to refresh the map.

Really good except “nearest markers”

iphoneraider on

United States

This is a really great app! Only issue is with location. After first installing it would never show my location. After deleting the app and reinstalling it will show my current location but the “Nearest Markers” option always returns “Cannot find - check that location services is enabled” - which of course it is. Tried toggling between “Always” and “When Using App” but no love. But I generally use the Geographic Regions mode which works great. And have learned a lot of Texas History! Interestingly when using the map in Geographic Regions mode, the app has no problem showing where I am on the map!

Ugh!
