I can’t read, I asked the lord do I really need to read the bible ? Cos I can’t read… he said “I will show you another way”… soon after that I was invited to come to Alpha. I said no way.!! So the first night at Alpha I was introduced to a bible that you can hear.! All those with ears!! I had said to my lord, I don’t think I can cry for a man who died over 2000 years ago,! But alone in woods walking my dogs and listening to the word, I cried like a baby, o the humility. I thought it was tragic until finally the penny dropped and the plan was revealed to me, I cried again but this time with joy. Not long after this I had a visitor!!! The greatest day of my life. It’s been three years now and still I find new enlightenment. Xxx to bible in one year. “Let whose with ears, hear”
Great application which helps you to complete the Bible in one year, I highly recommend this for any one who interested in a year.
Really good app, particularly if you find reading the Bible from start to finish difficult or if you are a new Christian and not sure where to start. I found Nicky Gumbel a really good speaker in the alpha course and his style of writing in this app is very similar to the talks if you found them useful.
I have tried several different things, and I just feel like this app to listen to the Bible in a year is simple to understand and simple to work through.
I’m Glad that they came up with their own app. I was introduced to this plan through YouVersion and enjoyed it very much. I do both the classic and the Express every year since it was first introduced. Now I can use this app to do them and shorten my list on the other app. I highly recommend this app/ plan. They have a plan for everyone.
I can't even begin to imagine how much time and dedication it took to write and record all these daily Bible readings that so beautifully link the Scriptures together, not to mention creating a gorgeous app to manage it all. The whole thing is an absolute pleasure to use. If they added two small additions to what they currently have, this would truly be perfect... First, it would be great to have a "Next" button that appeared when you finish listening to the current day. As it is right now, you have to return to the list of days and manually select the next one. Also, it would be incredibly helpful if we could bookmark certain days and then easily view all our bookmarks to return and relisten to our favorites. I highly recommend this app to everyone wishing to add the discipline of daily Bible reading to their life. This is the best tool I've ever found to accomplish that!
I loved the idea of this app, but its filled with messages that are misguided and not aligned with context. Six months in and I am ready to start over somewhere else. 1) Narrator makes frequent claims to his own ministry (Alpha) claiming how awesome it is and all of the work it does- this should be off putting with any ministry. He also frequently references Joyce Meyer, Rick Warren, etc who are known heretics (see “Charismatic church”) in similar fashion to the Hillsong stuff. And its not once or twice. Its at LEAST once per week if not more. 2) The narrator seems to have very loose doctrine often glossing over entire lessons in the Bible after it was just read. Instead of breaking down the context and interpreting what sinners often do not want to hear, he will divert to “love, love, love” instead of speaking the true message. The narrator’s messages have obvious liberal undertones. 3) the app does automatically go back to the place you left off if you miss a day or two. The app will continue on as if you did those days. Folks not paying attention could end up missing entire sections of the Bible. The app should instead only put check marks on the actual progress instead of going off the phone’s calendar. If you do decide to still use this app, have a reference text out as well as a comparison such as the Blue Letter Bible to conduct your own study.
I’ve tried a couple different Bible in a year plans and this one by far is the best! You can tell their heart is in it and the fact they don’t charge to use the app is mind blowing! Keep up the beautiful work; daily I can’t wait to read that days Bible reading and commentary <3
For the first time in my life, I’m reading the Bible and understanding what God is saying to me. The commentary does a great job of helping one to understand how everything points to Jesus our Savior, and provides so much hope and inspiration.
