A fascinating alternative to the typical “Pomodoro” timer.
Instead of strict “x minutes of work, y minutes of break” on repeat, you set a chunk of time you want to work and how much break time OVERALL you’ll allow yourself during that time. You can take your breaks whenever and for however long you want. Just hit pause working when you do, and a quick glance at the nicely color coded timer will let you know if your break is making you fall off track to finish at the time you planned. I enjoy this approach because my time blindness makes me be like “oh yeah I totally have time to take a bit more break” without realizing how much it’s adding up, but the strictness of a Pomodoro timer means that if I “mess up” and get distracted, take a longer break, etc., I have a tendency to just drop it altogether and end up taking longgggg breaks because I’m already distracted. I am going to keep this in my rotation for now and see how it works for me longer term in my workflow, I’ve only had it a few weeks. My only wish would be to have some sort of auditory alert if you start to fall off track too much, sometimes I may forget to check the screen.
