Sonja Lang created the language Toki Pona in the year 2001. Her aim was minimalism. Toki Pona consists of only about 120 words, which are not altered. In accordance with the position in the sentence, the words can vary their significance. To describe more detail you have to combine words.
It is not the goal of Toki Pona to describe complex issues. Dissertations and scientific papers will never written in Toki Pona. Lawyers, bureaucrats, theologians and politicians are warned of the side-effect of this language.
It is not the aim of Toki Pona to solve the communication problems in the world. But you can learn this language in a month. Toki Pona is easy in an intelligent way and yoga for the brain. People who hate nested subordinate clauses and commas will certainly have fun with Toki Pona.

Easy to use! Simple, pona. But what’s the function of the “train” button, down left? It shuts the app off.

This app is a one stop shop to learn the basics of Toki Pona and be able to get by in a conversation. I wish they would update the app with more advanced lessons, then the app would be 5 stars. It’s still far and away the best Toki Pona app on iPhone.

i tried reading pu and learned quite a bit from it, but this app is a very easy way to learn the language and practice vocabulary!

Ive learned a significant amount of toki pona from this app and just want to say a few things: one, great job! This is easily the best current toki pona learning app. Two, i like the option to turn on Sitelen Jelo, but I was hoping to learn with Sitelen pona as well. Final thing, the dictionary is quite nice, very helpful when making flashcards :>

Would recommend
Firstly,I am still using the app to learn so my opinions are not final but I definitely do have a good impression. The lessons are bite sized and give a good understanding to me and possibly others.The amount of words in one lesson are easily remembered and give a pretty good understanding of the concept. My only complaint however is the fact that some separate words like ‘pi’ or ‘e’ are a bit under-explained in the tips and notes sections.But besides that this app is a very good source of learning for me.
