tooot is an open source, simple yet elegant Mastodon mobile client. A Mastodon (https://joinmastodon.org/) account is required to use this app.
tooot supports:
- Cross platform, including iPadOS and MacOS
- Multiple accounts
- Dark mode or adapt to system
- Adjustable toot font size
- Push notification
I tried this app after just using a browser for Mastodon on mobile for some time. It makes using Mastodon very like the experience of Twitter of old, before that turned into an increasingly unpleasant place for me. It is nice to have a social media app that really works well on a phone with the content from the Fediverse.
Clean and intuitive
Simply works well
Can’t see how to login!
After downloading the app on a new device there is nowhere to login - what does this mean “https://Instance’s do”?!
Under that is more gibberish “Logging in process uses system browser that, your account information won’t be visible to tooot app”
Bug in new version
Version 4.8 introduces a big where text doesn’t wrap when composing a toot. Latest version iOS. iPhone 12 plus.
Best of the bunch
This is the best of the bunch I’ve tried.
Mostly excellent
+ Very cean interface 👍
+ Ability to create drafts.
+ Good use of ALT flags for image descriptions and the ability to view them à la Twitter.
+ Good choices for preferred font size.
+ Access to federated and local timelines.
+ Better than Mastodon app
- Let down by odd/cramped input modes for replies and search
Clunky UI
You can’t swipe to leave messages and return to the feed
Lovely!
Beautiful, clean, fast. Only thing missing is the ability to see trending hashtags. Adding that would make it perfect.
Nice interface - but push notifications are routed through Tooots servers
Nice interface Easy to use But functions rely on Tooots servers
