Loved this app up to a point. Recently my home feed loads with gaps in the timeline line. That’s a shame really. (These gaps do not appear if I simply use my browser for that.) More concerningly, there’s an interface with OpenAI unless you untick a box somewhere in the settings. That’s not my cup of tea
Good: Comprehensive features and control, multi accounts, highly customisable. Bad: Randomly jumpy timeline. When returning from reading a toot to the timeline it will jump to a random point rather than where you were previously. Sometimes it does it even when just scrolling the timeline.
Really like the app generally but noticed a bit of a flaw recently which I think might be a new introduction…? If I’m travelling with patchy coverage I’d like to load a fresh timeline into the app to be able to scroll through while offline. Fully aware that images, threads, replies etc. would require me to be online. It seems that now, if I go offline while scrolling, the app will show me an error message which I can’t clear until I’m online again. This is infuriating as I know all the content is there and I can keep scrolling through it, but instead I get a block slapped over the top. Please resolve this!

This app always opens with a top-to-bottom window, despite how i resize it. Trying to drag the window results in glitches - the app briefly shows whatever post happens to be underneath the title bar. More broadly Mastodon on macOS is a suboptimal experience and sadly Ice Cubes doesn't yet manage to change this.
I am very much enjoying using Ice Cubes as my main portal to the Fediverse. I use it on my iPad but I frequently get an error message that says 'Error when loading page' when I relaunch or return to the app. If I close the app completely and relaunch it, that seems to fix the issue. It's annoying (but not a deal breaker) and it would be nice if it was fixed.
I think the sound effects should be off by default, and the alternative app icons could benefit from some curation; those are my only nitpicks
An app that improves substantially upon the official functionality allowing so much control of your feed. You can really dive down to a personalised display now - lists with groups of tags, customisation of the main buttons, pinning stuff easily, syncing across feeds from device to device - or not if you don’t want this - the defaults are pretty sensible too. So much, and no subscription! Unfortunately, two major bugs atm. Searching or going to hashtags often bit not always only displays a partial feed of a few posts and won’t scroll back correctly. On ipadOS you often hit a display bug where text displays on top of the previous page then you have to force quit it. Also, be aware there’s options defaulted to on that mean you giving data to the openAI without a warning (but plenty to enjoy if you turn these options off).
I will be giving the developer a tip because this is a fantastic app. My only feature request would be a time limit to the home feed if this is possible. I’d like the home feed to only show me posts from the last 24 hours, with this feature being optional of course. For me, this would help me feel a sense of getting caught up. Then I could check Mastodon once a day, knowing I’d seen everything from everyone I follow.
