We had so much fun following a trail around the Colosseum with our 8-year-old granddaughter, working out a series of clues along the way to find an archaeological treasure. The well-written and entertaining text included engaging and "sticky" information in the "Did You Know?" section -- some of it funny, some of it just gruesome enough, some of it, Wow! Bonus was that the text can be read by a good Grade 3 reader but without boring her adult companions -- and a kid who would have had a tough time waiting in the long Colosseum line-ups and/or listening to a tour guide was caught up in the interactive problem-solving, looking for plaques, deciphering Roman numerals, noting the difference between Doric, Ionian, and Corinthian columns, while having fun -- seriously! Took us almost two hours to get through the "trail" together, and she never complained of being bored or tired once. Another bonus: the app gives instructions for how to find bathrooms, water fountain, and nearby playground, all important when travelling with kids. And compared to the cost (and wait time!!) for getting inside the Colosseum, our careful study of the ancient building's exterior cost us very little. Highly recommended!
