Good app but very limited selection of languages

I’m happy the more trendy languages get attention but you’d think mandarin chinese or russian would be in the mix. It’s too limited in my experience. The app itself is ok.

Good but forcing you to buy premium

Good base for an app - but first 2 lessons are free and the rest is behind paywall. I thought it would be limited to two free lessons per day, but no, next day it is still locked because I have to pay premium. If an app is sending me reminders to complete a lesson I cannot even access what is the point

Finally, there’s something for us!

Finally, a language learning app for Gestalt Processors! This app is so effective because it uses Gestalt Processing techniques to teach the language - rather than teaching you individual words and how to construct a sentence, it shows you whole sentences, and gives you those sentences in memorable contexts (spoken by real humans, NOT TTS ROBOTS) so that you can learn how to construct sentences through osmosis. Most language learning apps do not do this, and while the usual approach works for people who prefer to learn words one by one, it creates more work for Gestalt Processors and makes language learning unnecessarily difficult for us. This app makes it so much easier to acquire the target language without all the frustration of memorising individual words, having to figure out how they fit together and inevitably failing! I already feel like I’m acquiring the language after only one session and I will definitely be paying for the premium version. Good job, Uni!

How is not app of the year, better than duo, better than drops. I feel like I’m learning more from this app in a few days/weeks than using duo for years. Thank you guys!

Amazing app

I’ve never written a review for an app before but felt like I really had to for Umi. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for! I’ve been learning Japanese for a while now and my reading is ok(ish) but my listening has always been super poor. I tried listening to podcasts etc. but Umi is a much better gateway to listening practice because it breaks sentences down and builds up progressively. Thanks a lot for making this app, it is amazing! I was happy to pay for premium 😊

Great, fun app

Really enjoying this app, cool way to learn and enjoyable to use, haven’t paid any money yet and hoping if it costs in the future it will be low, so many cool apps are so expensive that I can’t afford them, I’m a missionary on a budget. Thanks for making this app
