Vacasa - Vacation Rentals

I had a terrible experience renting a house with Vacasa in Banner Elk, NC. When we arrived, the owner simply said that the house was not for rent, that we had been scammed, and that we should leave the property because he would call the police. I was left with my family on the street and there were no other properties or hotels available nearby. We were cold and had nowhere to go. They tried to relocate us to a house that was almost 3 hours away. We had planned this trip for months and were disappointed and left on the street with our children. So I found a new property 1 hour away on Airbnb and made a new reservation on my own. I am waiting for a refund from Vacasa.

Hands down the most seamless process by a city mile. They are avg 3-400 lower on fees than crooking.con. Me casa esu casa. Or however you spell it.

We had a party of 25 set to arrive from different places October 11th, 2 families flying in from different states, 4 driving in from Alabama. We have been booked in this cabin for a year. It was my dads 70th birthday. Our check in time was 4pm. At 12 pm we get an email from Vacasa stating our check in time was moved to 6pm. No biggie, we were tired and ready to check in but we could stop and get groceries first. We got stuck in Atlanta traffic and actually didn’t get to blue ridge closer to 7:30 and had gotten another message from vacasa stating that our check in was now moved to 8pm. We stopped by the grocery store and got groceries and then went to the cabin. It was filthy. Clearly it had not been cleaned yet. We sent a message to Vacasa and they said the cleaning company was delayed and they would be there in 20 minutes. We had been traveling all day and were exhausted but we understood that this town had a lot of evacuees from the hurricane in Florida and NC recently so we were trying to be patient. The cleaning crew was a couple with their child and this was their 13th clean of the day. The occupants before us had left the cabin pretty dirty unfortunately. Unbeknownst to us, the dishwasher had been broken. The cleaners were unaware, so we throught the previous occupants had left us a sinkful of dirty dishes. We helped (we thought) the cleaners by loading the dishwasher and starting it, but it ended up being broken and that didn’t get communicated to the cleaners so inevitably we eneded up having to wash that whole load of dishes (yay for vacation!) The maintenance man said it was irreparable and they couldn’t replace it while we stayed. And I’m sure it won’t Be replaced by the next guests stay either. The Linen company needs to be replaced. The towels are terrible. Water repellent. They leave white lint balls all over you and your clothes. The sheets were fine. We had ants in the downstairs bathroom and the very bottom bunk room. I’m guessing that’s what the bottles of raid were left on the game table for. The kids really really enjoyed the game room and the downstairs bunk area. They’re teens and that gave them their own space. We enjoyed the decks and porch areas. There were a lot of posts outside that need repairs and the cabin could use a deep cleaning inside and out. The Nut House was absolutely wonderful!!! It’s such a cute and well appointed cabin!! The location is wonderful! We really enjoyed our stay!

Was unable to check into my rental due to a hurricane. This is very understandable and unfortunate, and no fault of the owner or company. The poor experience comes from mitigation of the problem. We were offered a 30 day extension on booking (in a town and home that sadly will not be ready for tourism for many months). They told us we “cannot reach our home due to road closures”, but would not cancel our booking, to avoid refunding us. This is a shady company that does not care about customer service. You’re better booking with a local rental company, or one of the rental giants. Vacasa is the Kmart of Bnb apps.

Had a terrible experience with Vacasa while staying at their property. Their service is incredibly inefficient. The rental was not clean, and basic essentials like heat were not functioning. When I reported issues, they refused to fix them promptly, only responding during business hours. Even worse, they declined to refund me or move me to a different property. If you encounter problems at night, you’re stuck until morning, with no options but to leave and lose your money.
