Don’t use arbitrary text columns. Text should be zoomable and always fill the screen – panning a zoomed page to find the next paragraph detracts from my reading experience. Use high–resolution, full screen images. VF photography is so lush and this app is not doing it justice. Don’t split articles and bury the text in a “ghetto” at the back of the magazine. Digital means you don't need to, and your readers have always resented this. Another Conde Nast publication has a fantastic app that recreates the experience wonderfully – Wired. Wouldn't it be fantastic if all magazines read like this. A better digital experience might also save the world – no paper, no shipping; pure stories and imagery.
I think it is the selection of stories. They are more “distant” from the real world - detached. Adventurous, perhaps. But that is not what I loved under Mr Carter. Yes .....I loved the insights provided into the events and stories of the real world. Ashley Muir
I have been an App subscriber & have enjoyed VF for many years. But I am not enjoying the new format especially having to go to the end of the magazine to finish reading articles, then trying to remember where to go back to for the next article. Also the print is much small than previously. It’s no longer a pleasurable read😕
Terrible ap. doesn't work if you update. These guys need to sort their act out. Shocking for such a superb magazine to be let down by updates .
I have lost every magazine I have bought with this app, re-downloaded it numerous times, and now I literally cannot download it at all. I am so fed up with this hopeless app. Do not buy it.
After a recent problem downloading my magazines, I reinstalled the VF app in newsstand. All my magazines (3 years worth) disappeared. I could not restore and despite repeated emails to your support team I have not even had an acknowledgement of my problem. The helpful team at itunes have now refunded my subscription which I'm thinking means I have now lost all my back issues of VF unless someone in the support team there can wake up and do their job. Also to renew my subscription now costs significantly more. It's a shame your support does not come close to matching the quality of your magazine.
Paid subscription. Can't download issues. Clicked on 'report problems' on my receipt and continually fails to connect to iTunes. Go to VF web site. Asked to enter details but I'm not registered and I can't register without a subscriber number which you don't get from iPad sub. So they ask international customers to click to go to enter details EXCEPT they not allow people in the US and Canada to contact them this way. Then went to App support on iTunes store and this takes you to main Conde Nast site. It's IMPOSSIBLE to contact them to resolve this.. Waste of money be warned...if you have a problem NO SUPPORT
Up until a couple of months ago I would of given this app 5*s, however Vanity Fair have recently decided to not let you view the magazine unless you are connected to a network. What about people that travel heaps and like reading their magazines on a long haul flight?! Don't bother purchasing this. Once my subscription is over I will not be re-registering. Waste of money!
I've subscribed to this app since it came out as I thought it was really good value - I had a library, and could restore old issues to re read. Since it went onto newsstand I've had nothing but trouble. I neither recognises my subscription, nor restores purchases from my library. To add insult to injury the subscripton cost has doubled. I've contacted VF and they dont have a record of my subscription, even though it has been automatically renewed. Each time I thought I was downloading an archived issue, I was actually paying the cover price on top of the subscription. What I really want is for this app to get fixed, but until that happens it isn't worth my money, and I most certainly would not recommend it to anyone.
