Description

The official VDOT Running Calculator, designed by Dr. Jack Daniels - named World's Best Running Coach by Runner's World Magazine - and the team at VDOT O2.
Thanks to over 50 years of scientific research conducted by legendary coach Dr. Jack Daniels, runners and coaches can quickly determine appropriate training paces, equate race performances and adjust for heat and altitude.
Features:
• Calculate time, distance and race paces
• Calculate your current training paces
• Calculate and compare the equivalent performances of a race result at other distances
• Calculate the effect of temperature or altitude on training and race paces
What's Your VDOT?
VDOT is a measure of your current running ability. It assigns a score to all running performances, let's you determine your current training paces, and equates a race time in one distance to another. For instance, you can compare your VDOT score from a recent 5k result to a friend's score who just ran a half marathon. Who won?
What VDOT Level Have You Reached?
Input a race result or estimated performance and learn what score it reaches on the VDOT scale. Enter all your past performances to see which race result scores the highest. There are 10 levels starting at Beginner - White (Female: 34.3, Male: 36.8) all the way up to Professional - Gold (Female: 71, Male: 80).

VDOT Running Calculator Reviews

Whats the difference between this one

abby19681969 on

Hi Want to ask should this app to be paired with the vo2 app? I don’t get it, what’s the difference between the 2? Don’t tell me I’ll have to purchase both??

What happened?!

App was apparently just updated and now won’t open.

It may not be perfect, and in some ways dependent on the training you do. But it does give some important clues on training and ability. It is an excellent tool, even though at times imperfect in its results.

Used to be great

This app used to be my go-to for running based calculations. But the most recent update (Aug 2020) limits you to 3 calculations per day unless you upgrade to the not-so-cheap premium version. Sorry, but there are other free apps out there to do simple arithmetic. Deleted.

Almost there

If only it would remember the data and not have you enter it every time you open the app.... Update: fixed one thing, broke a few more. Plus added "pro" for smth that was there before.... Too bad. Had such potential, but it's time to delete it. Adios!

Does its job and does it well, but one suggestion...

Great app and seamless to use. My only suggestion and wishlist for this app would be to add 6k and 8k to the list of common distances (as I believe the 1600 and 1500 were added not that long ago?) as to make it a little easier instead of having to custom distance those every time for the collegiate users out there and these being two standard cross country distances. Otherwise thank you for all the hard work you’ve put into making this app what it is!

Cannot see definitions

james_7200 on

United States

This app doesn’t allow you to see their definitions of their workouts, making the times it calculates almost useless. If this would be fixed I would rate it a 5! They got back to me and fixed the problem. 5/5

Could use 10-miler race distance.

If you beed space, scrap either 3200 or 2-Mile. :-) Thank you!

Has some bugs

.....,.....'...., on

United States

You can’t see anything beyond 200 and 400m training results (app won’t let you scroll through the table) and when you click on links for definitions of Threshold, Marathon, etc., it takes you to a page, gives you the first part of each definition and ends in “...” with no ability to see the full definition.

Custom distance doesn’t support metric.

Nice App; but, tried to get result for a recent 8K which is a custom distance and app only has “mi” without ability to change.
