Description

Explore the great outdoors by visiting America’s backyard -- 193 million acres of national forests and grasslands. Find your perfect spot on these expansive lands that include more than 4,300 campgrounds and 158,000 miles of trails, including 31,900 miles on pristine wilderness areas.
Discover our rich cultural heritage at such destinations as Chimney Rock National Monument. Step back into time by stepping on tracks left 150 million years ago by dinosaurs at the Picket Wire Trail in southeast Colorado, where you also can see Native American rock art, ruins from the Dolores Mission and Cemetery and the old Rourke cattle ranch.
These lands also play host to more than 6,000 miles of wild and scenic rivers that offer leisurely rides passed awe-inspiring scenery or breathtaking rollercoaster-like rides down rapids. We are your year-round destination, including skiing on one of the 122 ski areas in the winter, photographing the bursting colors of wildflowers, cooking s’mores around the campfire in the summer or watching leaves change colors in the fall.

Visitor Map Reviews

Waste of time

Java272727 on

United States

Just downloaded onto my iPad and the app just continually crashes. None of the selections are working and definitely cant get anywhere without it crashing. - Deleting.

Useless app

yaakguy on

United States

Presumably the app is for use while visiting the forests it covers. Well news flash for the developers! Most of the forests in the US are outside the range of Cell Phone service and the off-line maps are for all intents and purposes blank. Not much use to potential users so how about fixing this so you haven’t wasted tax payers money on development of the app?

Offline maps are not available for download

TRx0000 on

United States

The national forest maps are not available for download. Thus, you cannot use the app offline.

Doesn’t work, dev support page doesn’t load

Jamie Flournoy on

United States

The map always says “error loading activity”. The developer website from the App Store page never loads. Maybe the app should have a feature for “the backend is down” because a little message saying “error” isn’t very useful.

Sit n spin

iOS and iPad is just show a loading pinwheel and never anything else. Anybody got this to work recently?

What Fix of Broken Links?

Jeep Traveler on

United States

App was supposedly updated today, December 13, 2023, to fix broken links. Still can’t download any offline maps as I keep getting an error message. This app used to be great but is now useless off the grid.

Used to work but doesn’t anymore

GEF1222 on

United States

Can no longer download or update maps. Used to work great out in the woods in offline mode with downloaded maps but has ceased to function properly. Please fix.

Unusable

Tssktssk on

United States

App freezes within seconds of using and navigating the map. Tap to download offline maps - freeze. Tap on a trail or rec site - freeze.

Errors trying to load campground information

not2ez on

United States

When I selected a campground I get an error, Error, attempting to identify.” This happens regardless of the campground. I downloaded the offline maps for areas where these campgrounds are located and I still get the error.

Potential for a good app but definitely has bugs

Mr_G_in_MN on

United States

Would like to be able to use offline maps but they will never download. Appears it’s been over a year that this has been reported by others and no changes. Disappointing that this is not being addressed timely.
