“Best music theory learning app out there. I just want to say this app is completely amazing and an incredible amount of work must have gone into this. I have been looking for an app just like this to complete my learning between music classes and this has everything I need and more. I highly recommend!” —BigMat74, Oct. 20, 2023
"Absolutely phenomenal. This is better than any YouTube video, podcast, or music theory book I have read. Within 48 hours using this app I have actually comprehended what is being taught far beyond any previous comprehension for past products. Honestly they could charge more than double the amount and it would be totally worth it." —Artice, May 3, 2022
"It's obvious a lot of time, love and energy has gone into this app. It's very well thought out, easy to follow and keeps you coming back for more. The developer is super friendly and answers any questions you have. It's clear he has a real passion for what he does and genuinely wants to help out. Awesome work all round" —thatboyswiss, Jan. 8, 2019
"I have probably spent thousands of dollars perfecting tone on pedals, instruments, amps and apps, posters, printed media, online courses. The BEST PURCHASE has been your Waay app." —A.P., Apr. 1, 2020

Very useful app, also if you’re not a songwriter

I‘m more or less new to music theory and new to the app. The app has great content and great exercises. Here and there the transitions in difficulty levels are too sudden (Circle of fifths, for example) but what was really cool is that when I wrote this comment in the app, the developer immediately offered me a private lesson! How cool is that?! The app is definitely worth the (small) amount I paid.

Pay more?!

So i paid for the app and then after 30mins at part two you want to continue using the usual continue button where you then pay another 5€ to learn a little about chords... i just payed for this app already!! Also it gives a brief explanation of circle of 5ths and then you suddenly have to know it, but doesnt give you a practice of memorizing it, just telling you its really handy and just memorize it mmmm ok...

Incredible app, better than conservatory

I am a former music student that studied piano at conservatory, but my theory had grown weak in the years since I graduated. I was looking for an app to brush up on it and I was blown away by Waay. I hated theory in college - it intimidated me and I was bad at it since my high school teachers never focused on it. This app has me actually looking forward to practicing it and doing the exercises, which is something I never thought I would say. The content is top notch, but the actual app design is beautiful as well. I barely ever leave reviews but this app is just wonderful in every way. Thank you to the developer; you’ve made my life a little bit better because of your work.

I’ve been diving into the world of music theory and have really struggled with finding something that works with my brain. I decided to give this app a try after coming across it on Reddit and the trial lessons have given me some breakthroughs on solidifying some of the basic concepts I’ve struggled with retaining. The trial period consists of the basics of intervals and how to build major scales (it also gives you the pattern for minor scales but the practices are paywalled). I usually can’t do in-app purchases (I have a very limited budget) but I’m genuinely going to try working this into my expenses because it seems like this might be an extremely helpful app. Going to purchase a month soon and hopefully the rest of the courses are as helpful as the beginning ones. I will update once I’ve gotten further into the app but it’s promising so far! June 10- Purchased a month to try the app further and it’s absolutely worth the money if you’re looking to really dive into music theory from a beginner standpoint. I’ve watched YouTube videos and searched websites and none have been so comprehensive, straight forward and helpful as this app is. The lessons are very well explained and have made things “click” for me in ways nothing else has. The practice tools are extremely useful and honestly fun to use. Have been going back pretty much daily to review things I need more time with and it’s made progressing through the lessons easier than I expected. I am terrible with memorization but I’ve already got things memorized that I was afraid I’d have to keep a reference tool with me for life. If you have the money, get this app. I plan on using it for quite a while.

Confused.

I thought this app was absolutely brilliant till lesson 5 where the presenter states “we’re going to use the f# instead of the G flat. We’ll explain that in a later lesson.” But before they explain it, they literally quiz you on it so you have no way to figure out why your getting every scale wrong except out of luck. Not even a hint of logic to work with. Whose self sabotaging idea was that?

This is the best method I’ve ever applied to learn music theory. I have deejayed, made beats, engineered for 10+ years now. Finally I’m committed to learning music theory for songwriting and this app is giving me a newfound confidence. I believe it will take me to the next level is my musical pursuits. The app doesn’t give you cheap ways to cheat and actually forces you to study. Thank you for this!!!

This app succeeded where years of music teachers failed. The content is clear, beautifully structured, and unfussy. The training modules are exactly the gamefied shame-free repetition that I needed! I keep telling people about this app!

Love this app!

The best app I have ever owned!!

This is the first thing I open up in the morning and the last thing I put away before I go to sleep. I wish this was around when I started learning music. I have never seen better music theory training anywhere. Recommend to anyone at any age or skill level. The memory training is phenomenal. Can’t give enough praise for this app. Very well done. It’s worth every penny.
