I am 30 mins in experiencing no adds, no extreme pay to progress, and a great format in strategy, after seeing about 10 adds from different apps I clicked download and tried it out later and it was lovely!
This could have been fun but it’s way too hard to obtain new units. Gets boring pretty fast. There’s better games to play right now. The character events are impossible to finish and they just paywall everything.
No pay walls and a fun turn based 40k game. Highly suggest giving it a try.

Tacticus review I have been playing for some time now and there are some points that I would like to share with those considering this app. In game purchases is my largest complaint. Most games that have a monthly sub cost about $15 per month, essentially getting you a premium battle pass as part of the sub. You will pay double that to get the premium battle pass here. The expansions, three additional campaigns, have a price tag that is on par with most other game expansions after a 70% discount. So, the added content is about three and a half times more expensive than other titles. I understand Games Workshop has some extortionate prices in their tabletop game, so this should come as no surprise from a licensed product, be prepared to pay to win or extend the rapid advancement of the early game. Character boosters don’t even give you a full character, but you could compare the price of a booster pack to buying characters in other games. Character requisitions are completely random, which I suspect is affected by the rarity of the unit. Secondly, odds of getting shards from matches is misrepresented. Having played, and tracked drop rates lately (I started noticing certain trends and so I have only been doing this for the last month or so), and found that character shards that show a 33% drop rate is incorrect. 10 matches typically drop 3 shards, often fewer and on very rare occasions an additional one. 3 in 10 is not 33%. As I have experienced 2 in 10 more than I have 4 in 10, I would claim that the odds are less than 30%. So it is disappointing to spend the energy resource to be robbed by RNG. While one could argue that that is how random rolls work, normal distribution would show the true odds over longer times, so I will keep tracking this. Despite these issues, I do find the game fun in small doses. You just need to know how much control you have over your desire to get everything in the game and just playing, because patience is a requirement.

It’s okay. Be better if you could pick a different faction to play in the beginning.
The live arena event is filled with people that pay to win. Every match is the same lineup of people who bought their units and that gives 0 chance to people who just want to play free.
