Westpac NZ CashNav Reviews

Ugh

steve23094 on

Every iOS developer needs to study this app, it’s the best example of it’s kind. ‘How not to write an app’. It’s not a native app, it’s a web application and all the terrible things that brings. Ugly interface with a capital ‘U’. Instability. And bizarre design decisions that are user hostile. The UI is diabolical. Lots of white everywhere and a general lack of colour for no purpose other than to make it difficult to see information you want at a glance. The reported figures are inaccurate. It will double count various transactions for a number of days before finally correcting them. Why do I need two apps to track my spending? Stupidity in the first degree. And to top it off I have to accept the terms and conditions every single time the app is opened. Developers left behind web apps a long time ago, Westpac needs to catch up. There are so many better native banking apps out there, all they need to do is download a couple for a lesson in how to do things right.

Much better.

The original version was simply rubbish, but the latest version (3.3.6) seems good and correctly categorises most of my spending. Generally useful and workable for my situation.

When it works it is quite good

Cheap yet demanding on

When it works and you can log in it is helpful. Often, however, there are problems logging in. Come on Westpac!

Good app but unpleasant process

Sony1686 on

App offers good insight but every-time have to go through a painful process of skipping app tour, which then take you to app store to open the already downloaded app. After that, it will ask you to log in to your account and then provide insight. It only started to happen after the recent update which was 3-4 months ago and they have not fixed it yet.

Annoying

EB046 on

Seriously, please fix this app! We know you have the money to invest in it Westpac. Surely your customer experience is somewhat of a priority? Every time I access the app, it takes me through the same process to authorize through the banking app, accept T&C’s, to the App Store and finally back to the app for a tour. It is extremely frustrating! I can see in the reviews has been a problem for over 5 years so why has it still not been fixed. Come on!

Basic but confusing

I’d expect Westpac to have a great budgeting app but CashNav is not. Doesn’t even have the ability to add/name your own spending categories - you have to use what they have pre programmed. Please update this app to be better!

Promising but no good yet

As a new customer, the app only has a few weeks worth of spending and then bc I started adding my mortgage and other bills in the second month it tells me I’m well above typical. This is not helpful or accurate. There needs to be tweaks to the app to set an initial normal or reset the average. Otherwise it’s going to take over a year for my spending to show as “typical”.

Keeps logging me out

Jen_reviews on

This used to be really good, but now every time I open it the app directs me to the App Store (noting that I have already downloaded it), then I have to accept the Ts and Cs (again) and login. If this could be fixed it would be amazing

Doesn’t really work, but kind of promising

If I open the app today it takes me to my normal banking app where I have to log in, that then takes me to the App Store, I can then open the already downloaded app and it will sometimes work, but I often have to close it down and do the whole process twice before it opens. Once it does open it’s pretty good. Gives you a good idea of where funds are going. The categories are decent and cover all main options. The ability to mark payments as a category is good but doesn’t always work. Lots of bugs in this app which is annoying. Also annoying the link to the app for contacting devs re issues/bugs takes you to a 404 webpage. At this rate that is expected. So it’s somewhat helpful, when you can get in…

Only app that resets every time

Have to go via other app, accept terms and conditions and then route via App Store every single time I open the app. Also, comparing spending does not show you what you spent on the same month last year, so cannot tell if more or less.
