Honest Opinion

Random lazy student here on

By far, I’ve been using Whink as my note taking app for a few days now and I still couldn’t get use to the fact that there is a lack of option of colours to use when handwriting. I would really love to see if the app can provide more colours becasue the colours the app currently have is similar to one another (like black black and dark black?) I didn’t see any purple or brown or any other colours..Another one is the eraser tool, which I could not switch from pen to eraser when double tapping on my 2nd gen Apple Pencil. I’d love to see an upgrade on that too :) On a side note though, I really love the app’s design and its feeling when i ‘write’ and I’m looking forward to the future update :)

Not bad, could be better

The best part about this app for me personally is the handwriting. Apart from sensing the pressure, this app also measures the speed that I make my strokes and adjust the thinness accordingly, which makes my handwriting look better than other notes apps i used (notability , goodnotes4, one notes etc.) and feels more comfortable for me, it feels similar to wacom bamboo paper on Windows. However, like other reviews suggested, there are a bit of lag when writing, but it is not really noticeable for me unless I’m making a big line across my screen. On top of that, the whole experience just didn’t feel as smooth as others because there is just that teeny weeny little bit of delay when ever I press something. Overall, a nice app for taking notes, but there are room for improvements.

Far from great

There’s a significant lag with the Apple Pencil, you can’t crop photos properly - overall not worth buying.

Does a lot of things so well.

But leaves just a little wanting. Notebook organisation and export is fantastic, image handling and text / handwriting combination is great, iCloud backup is seamless. My only complaint is that using the Apple Pencil feels at times significantly laggy, like it’s being overly aggressive on the line smoothing or something. Otherwise a fantastic app! (Reviewed on iPad Pro 9.7 and iPhone 8)

Shocker

I think it is but I couldn't make any sense of that. Maybe it'd be great if I could work it out.

Awesome note app

Recommended. Sync between devices. Works beautifully with Apple Pencil. Downloadable PDFs. I use PDFs for annotating and also for templates for regular tasks, eg. Weekly schedules

Buggy and a little unintuitive

Smith70 on

I'm glad this one was for free, would have hated to have paid for it. Turning on iCloud means you can open the documents. I can see a note that states this was a bug that was fixed. It is still there in iOS 9 on iPhone 6 (23 Dec 2015) Turning off iCloud copied the documents locally and I could edit them. But to turn off I cloud there was no clear setting, you need to click on about and then navigate to the last about panel where there is a setting to turn off cloud The default highlighter setting was skinny and no clear way to change it. It said there was peek and pop support (I'm on iphone6 which obviously doesn't support that) so got me thinking to press and hold the highlighter and up pops three thicknesses, why only three? Strange. I'm not a fan of the peek and pop style of discovery. Things should be obvious. Perhaps I might get used to that one day. But not today it appears. This app makes a lot of bad ui choices. To add a document to a group you drag a doc onto another one but to get one out of a group you don't drag it out but press an icon at the bottom of the screen, different to what apple does with folders. Which gets to another point. The ui elements are too small on the iPhone 6, I pity anyone still on a 4 inch screen if using this app. Well I gave it a go, back to the stock apple notes app for me.
