Welcome to WikiArt.org, the online home for visual arts from all around the world.
Aim of the project
Our primary goal is to make world’s art accessible to anyone and anywhere. WikiArt already features some 250.000 artworks by 3.000 artists, localized on 7 languages. These artworks are in museums, universities, town halls, and other civic buildings of more than 100 countries. Most of this art is not on public view. With your active involvement, we are planning to cover the entire art history of the Earth, from cave artworks to modern private collections. We also provide you with tools for translation on as many languages as needed.
Financial status
The project is non-profit. We use donation and advertising as financial sources to cover hosting and technical service expenses. The content of the site is launched for free by our Volunteer Team – and you are welcome to join it. Check out ‘Donate’ and ‘ how to contribute’ section to know more about it.
Copyright policy
WikiArt presents both public domain and copyright protected artworks. The latter are showcased in accordance with fair use principle:
as historically significant artworks
as used for informational and educational purposes
as readily available on the internet
as low resolution copies unsuitable for commercial use
We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement and remove copyright protected artworks, or block them for users from countries where infringement is alerted. But mostly we try to get artist’s permission to demonstrate his art, and confirm it with a credit line.
We provide information to help copyright holders manage their intellectual property online. If you think somebody is violating your copyrights and want to notify us, please submit the notice by [email protected]

Widget needs improvements
Often the art is very tiny and the title very big in the widget, resulting in poor capability to appreciate the picture

Bella
L’app è molto bella però manca della funzione di mettere tra i preferiti anche gli artisti, per questo dò solo 4 stelle. Aspetto in futuri aggiornamenti.

Ho aggiunto una stella per i continui aggiornamenti arriverò a 5 stelle quando oltre alle opere, ci possa essere anche una sezione preferiti che riguarda anche gli Artisti Se poi nelle impostazioni compare anche la lingua italiana, allora diventerebbe un capolavoro!
Interessante ma con diversi bug
App molto interessante anche se ha diversi bug: una volta visualizzati i dipinti degli artisti non mi fa tornare indietro e devo per forza chiudere e riaprire l’app, i dipinti preferiti non risultano e sopratutto non c’è l’opzione per cercare dipinti o artisti in particolare! Quest’app ha davvero del potenziale anche perché può essere utilizzata da chi studia la storia dell’arte. Spero migliori!
Chi ben comincia...
L’app è molto interessante ma purtroppo non è ottimizzata per essere usata su iPad, questo rende la fruizione fastidiosa. La visione non è a tutto schermo ma è possibile allargare il campo tuttavia ne consegue un generale peggioramento e sgranamento dell’immagine.
