Wiktionary-Leser FAQ
Is Wiktionary-Leser free?
Yes, Wiktionary-Leser is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Wiktionary-Leser legit?
🤔 The Wiktionary-Leser app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
I've installed the Wiktionary app on both devices (iPhone / iPad) and ask me how I can sync the bookmarks set there?
Lost Bookmarks
This app is usually great but after the recent update I’ve lost all my bookmarks! I’ve been keeping them for years! This would also be a great use case for being able to export them. Even a CSV file would be better than losing them all :(
crashes
can’t even look up a single word
Didn’t work at all
I downloaded and opened the app on iPhone 12. I typed in “Germanic” in the search field. The app crashed. I tried again. It crashed again. I deleted the app. I wrote this review. Done.
Audio does not work
For etymology, finding cognates, definitions in multiple languages, conjugation, etc. very useful. However, none of the audio files have ever functioned in the app.
Only crash, no define
Does not do anything useful. iOS 15
Does what it says on the tin
I never review apps, but I'm so happy somebody made an app for this! Perfect for etymology rabbit holes.
One nit: would be great if swiping right took me to the previous page instead of to the top-level search bar.
Because of aforementioned rabbit holes, I go "back" a lot, and it's annoying that swiping right not only doesn't have the expected (imo at least) behavior, but also makes me lose my history (to go back to previous page you have to press the little back button at top of screen).
Relatedly, would be cool if swiping left took you forward in history!
Otherwise love it; it's simple but exactly what I needed. Thank you!
Crashes
Crashes every time I type a word and hit the search button
Functional but dated interface
When it comes to defining words, it’s hard to beat this. It’s just like using the Wiktionary website from 15 years ago. Love the etymology references. But the interface needs to be updated and designed to fit mobile devices of varying sizes. I would be willing to pay for that.
