Illuminating and compelling
This app offers thoughtful and engaging documentaries and talks. I’m new to Catholicism and I greatly admire Bishop Barron’s approach and perspective. The series on ‘three pathways to holiness’ and ‘seven deadly sins and seven lively virtues’ are very enjoyable. His talks are intellectually and spiritually rich and grounded in the catholic faith whilst also engaging in todays culture. The synthesis of catholic evangelism with ‘real world’ psychological, social and existential human problems is spiritually nourishing and thought provoking. I wish I had discovered this as an aid to my journey sooner. I’ve often thought that Barron’s gift is grounding the centrality of Christ and the Eucharist in the everyday world and ‘common sense’. Highly recommended.

Thanks to Word On Fire, I am finally understanding so many things which I had heard so many times before from so many preachers in so many sermons, but which hadn’t previously got through to me. There had been rays of light here and there, to borrow Bishop Barron’s analogy, but not enough (extending the analogy a bit) to break through and shed light on the dark interior of a shuttered house. To read and watch Word On Fire is to throw open the shutters, the windows and the doors and let in the sunshine. God bless you WOF!

OVERSEAS buyers beware ‼️
The subscription fee of $199.99 (annual) or $19.99 (monthly) I think is a tad expensive, however, you can get a 7 day free trial. On a totally negative side of things, I could only see one method of paying. You enter your card details to start the free trial. It means there is no way to subscribe, using a safe international payment method ie: PayPal, GooglePay etc. Neither, was there a way to pay a subscription via (in my case) using my Appleid. This means you have no control of payments for this App. This is highly irregular and the Developer needs to address this concern! So this review I’m only giving one star, the reason for which I’ve just explained.

I can’t download episodes, just get a black screen and then it shuts down, have to shut down my device and reboot to access again. Excellent content, app needs work. Hopefully sorted soon.
