Wordsmyth Reviews

Relaxing game. battery hungry. game centre issue

MånWi†B€@r∂ on

United Kingdom

It’s a nice relaxing stress free word game. Data Not Collected 🎉 However I’m experiencing fairly significant battery drain when playing it. iP14+ Also the game centre doesn’t seem to work; was hoping to play same word grid with friends each day (setting turned on for this) but we’re seeing different sets of letters.

Great but gobbles battery, overheats

HateTheFlatLook on

United Kingdom

The game itself is very good and exactly as it describes itself. But... it overheats my (older) iPad, and gobbles up 30% of my battery in half an hour, despite turning on the app's “battery saver” and disabling the “tilt” option. Maybe an option to disable all the background graphic's animations, or to have a choice between the default and a simpler less resource hungry background, would help? But, as it is now, even if I were to keep the charger in whilst playing, it wouldn’t prevent the overheating.

Great but…

This is a great, simple, impeccably presented word game. I’m not sure the devs will ever update it again but personally, the mechanics for editing your chosen letters are SO CLUNKY. Can we not force press a letter and move it around within a word, to quickly evaluate permutations. Can we not click on a selected letter to unselect? Tweaks such as these would make it perfect 😊.

Great game, needs a British dictionary option.

Great game, although there are a lot of American slang words. Slangs words like Pol or Pols for politicians or shortened words like Hols for holiday or its for it’s seem a little odd. Perhaps they are in the official scrabble dictionary but they are words that most people are unlikely to get without hints.

A beautiful little game

The Boffin on

I’ve just started playing this, and it is beautifully designed. I’m not one to often write reviews but it is so well put together I felt compelled to. A lovely version of a simple but enjoyable game

Good fun but lacks some quality of life stuff

MrSamStrong on

United Kingdom

First, this is a pretty fun game. It’s a nice simple find the words game that’s quite addictive and looks great. But there are a few little quality of life things that it would be awesome to have. A lot of the words you need to find are just plurals of the words you’ve already found. I’d love to be able to disable plurals entirely. The number of words you need to find is very variable. I’ve had between 93 and 286. Limiting this would be great. Finally, having to swipe up to confirm finding a word really should be an automatic thing (or at least give players the option for it to be automatic).

Bring back old version

Bifurcated on

United Kingdom

The old dictionary was full of weird non-words, but the new one doesn't recognise perfectly normal words that the old one did. It's all too dark and the hints and words are hard to read.

Too many doubtful words accepted

SimonHexham on

United Kingdom

Quite a relaxing, low stress app. But also slightly annoying in the number of non-words it accepts!

Please let us deactivate Game Centre!

Jamie2176 on

United Kingdom

Love this app but a recent update means that you now have to opt out of Game Centre every time you open - really annoying. Many of us don’t use GC and have no interest in doing so, please let us change this in settings?

I love it

Onewordtf on

As simple as word games get. And yet so challenging. Everyday a new puzzle, each beautifully presented. A delight to play. Improvement? Maybe the ability to shuffle the letters? But as it stands, perfectly conceived and delivered. I love it. Update: absolutely love the shuffle in the new update. Plus other improvements. So very well thought out. My favourite word game is now even better.
