The WordWeb English dictionary and thesaurus: fast searching, spelling suggestions, definitions, usage examples, synonyms, related words - and no adverts. An offline audio version is available separately.
The comprehensive WordWeb dictionary database includes:
- 285,000 words, phrases and derived forms
- 225,000 word sense definitions
- 70,000 usage examples
- 85,000 text pronunciations
- Synonyms, similar and related words
- N. American, British, Australian and international English
A version with 70,000 professionally recorded audio pronunciations is available as a separate product.
The intelligent word entry suggests possible correct spellings as you type, as well as listing words that sound the same or are often confused.
Additional features include the ability to drill down on any word in a definition, full bookmark support and history.

A wish to make multi word matches an option.
Love the app. 5 stars. My one wish: there was a setting to not include multi word matches; or a way to turn those off and on in the main interface. Sometimes there are huge numbers of multi word completions one has to scroll through. Example: fam includes a zillion family Xxxxx botanicals. Or words like lord that have many name completions. Personally I rarely or never am interested in multi, space separated, word matches. Sure, one can now search for fam* but the user does not get that instant list of matches

I’ve used this app over 10 years. I have stopped using this app because of the increasingly woke and politically slanted definitions.
Cannot type a word?
This sounds ridiculously simple, but I cannot figure out how to type a word in the search box. Clicking there, it doesn't allow input. At all. Fundamentally broken until this gets fixed.

Thank you for providing a great dictionary for free. Update: the dictionary is outdated which does matter for some definitions.
