This app is very exploitative and VASTLY overpricing what they are selling. Over $100 for a single book? Absolutely outrageous. They use predatory microtransaction tactics like obfuscating payments behind “coins” so you don’t know how much you’re actually paying. Well you can do the math and the math says it’s too much. They try to hook you in with free chapters and promo coins that expire so you pay through the nose for books. I feel bad for the authors that they have got into contracts bc that means that people turned away from their app won’t experience their great books. If the developers reply to this post talking about how to get more free coins, you know they have no self-awareness.

I downloaded Yonder expecting a great reading experience, but I was left feeling disappointed. The app takes novels, changes their names, and offers them as “exclusive” content, while charging $.25 per chapter—which, for a 500-chapter book, adds up to a whopping $125. That’s an outrageous price for a single book, especially when you consider that the original work has simply been translated and rebranded. It’s unclear if the original authors even receive fair compensation, and the new titles make it hard to trace the connection to the original work. This seems misleading to the reader, and I can’t help but wonder if it’s truly benefiting the creators of the content. Moreover, the app restricts the ability to read offline, and you can’t even take screenshots of the content you’ve paid for. This feels like an unnecessary limitation, especially when considering the high cost. As a paying customer, I expect more flexibility and transparency. I appreciate that apps need to make money, but this pricing model feels excessive and exploitative. I can’t recommend Yonder unless significant changes are made to both pricing and transparency regarding the original works and author compensation.

App will not process my payment for some reason so I cannot finish the book I am halfway through. Either way I would rather just buy a whole book, not chapter by chapter. Very frustrated.

Ok so for a page it’s 0.99 usd but the thing is most books are more than 120 pages so you your going to have to pay 120 dollars for a book you don’t even get to hold it’s a massive scam

Hi, I was wondering if there was a narrator on this app so I can listen to the story and if not if you could add one? And if you could add the font that makes it easier for people with deslexia to read :> I would really appreciate it, I struggle with reading but I still want to be able to listen to my favourite novels, I hope this isn’t too much of a thing to ask for, other than that the app is wonderful

I checked the app quickly, on every story i saw there was about 10 or so free chapters. You have the option to wait about a day to unlock a new one or to buy coins to unlock it. If i understood properly from my research, you need about 20 to 65 coins to unlock a chapter depending on the story. And from a previous comment, apparently coins expires. And a 100 coins is a dollar. It’s expensive. Not saying it’s not worth it, but depending on how much you read, you need a good ratio of coins and reading time, else you could potentially lose money. Ok, so, getting to my point now, i think it’s a pain to think about it. The coins, the money, the time, i think something more straightforward like a subscription would appeal to a lot of people that would like to read in peace. I must say though, that although frustrating, i do like the free pass system cause i was once a 12 years old with no money to spend, so yeah.

The app works fine. No tech issues. But the frustrating part is that you only unlock one chapter per day. That’s understandable if the authors are writing as it releases, but when the book is complete or there are 50 chapters released it’s frustrating to wait a day for a new chapter. It would be better if chapters unlocked every couple of hours, or if you could earn coins via reading time or some other way (like most other apps). I’ll be returning to using my Kindle and getting free books from author giveaways.

If you have infinite money have no fear because you can just pay to read what the rest of us have to pay chapter by chapter to continue. You get one free chapter a day unless you’re willing to pay money for it. Extremely frustrating when you are enjoying what you’re reading. I don’t want micro transactions in my reading please, it’s already in too many of my games
