An app made just for children

Published by: Google

Description

Inspire your children to uncover their unique interests
Help your children explore video content that they love and that parents trust, in an app made just for children. With easy navigation tools and a suite of features, you can help your children spend time online uncovering new interests, unleashing their imagination and building their confidence in their own unique world.
Help your children grow at their own pace
Your children are unique, so they should only see content that they're ready to explore. Decide what videos will help them make the most of their time online, then personalise individual profiles using custom content filters as they grow.
– Help your youngest children learn their ABCs, nurture their curiosity and more in 'Preschool' mode.
– Expand your children's interests to songs, cartoons or DIY crafts in 'Younger' mode.
– Give your older children the freedom to search popular music and gaming videos in 'Older' mode.
– Or, hand-pick the videos, channels and collections that your children can see in 'Approved content only' mode.
Rewatch videos and bond over favourites
Quickly find your children's favourite videos and the content that you've shared with them in the 'Watch it again' tab.
Shape your children's viewing experience with parental controls
Parental control features help you limit what your children watch, and better guide their viewing experience. Our blocking process aims to help keep videos on YouTube Kids family-friendly and safe – but each family's preferences are unique. Don't like a video or channel, or see inappropriate content? Flag it for our team to review.
Set a screen-time limit
Encourage your children to take a break in between exploring content. Use the 'Timer' feature to freeze the app when screen time is up so that your children can apply their new skills to the real world.
See important information
– Parental setup is needed to ensure the best experience for your family.
– Children may see commercial content from YouTube creators that are not paid ads.
– See the Privacy Notice for Google Accounts managed with Family Link for information on our privacy practices for signing in with a Google Account.
– If your children use the app without signing in with their Google Account, the YouTube Kids Privacy Notice applies.

Recent update not good, needs more accessibility options

I have a special needs kid. The latest update really made the app worse. She it’s not capable of navigating most of the app. The Home Screen used to show way more history and options. With that said, it is great that she has this app as she enjoys the kids songs. But I wish that the app would consider accessibility more as some buttons are too small for someone with poor fine motor skills.

The difficult parts about YouTube kids

big sister kenzie on

I love YouTube kids, but the difficult parts about it is that it doesen’t show some of the channels. For example, if I want to go to let’s say the Norris nuts channel, it’s not there. And that’s for some other YouTube channels. Like the Johnson fam, tannerites, etc. My iPad is also old, so I try downloading the app because there is this little cloud that has an arrow pointing down, and I download it, and it dosen’t download. So I have to go to my mom to fix it. Just know that I am ten, and my brother is 7. He has no problems with it, when I do. I still like YouTube kids, but there needs to be some changes. Please add the channel thingy. Thank you and have a good day.✌🏻

Changes that can and need to be added

What l think should be added into YouTube kids is when the video was made like in real YouTube. What else l think needs to be added is when the new look came in you can’t go to your favorite YouTubers which l am kinda upset about because l hate just having to search them up, like what if you forget the YouTubers name? That would be pretty unlucky. And also for the older kids ages 9-12 l think there should be kinda more abnormal and kinda scary things added to that like horror games not movies. Because as a kid who can’t watch actual YouTube and wants to binge watch poppy playtime or something that kinda makes me sad. There should also be more genres to choose from like comedy, scary, and fantasy. I think you should also add captions to be a optional thing because every time I watch a YouTuber like Mariah Elizabeth, I want the captions on, but since apparently the captions are not available. I don’t know what she’s saying so I think captions should be an optional thing because every time I try to watch a video it doesn’t matter if the captions are available or not, do you want a five star rating on this app so I suppose you should add captions whether it’s available or not because this makes me mad to the point where I don’t want to use this app. But yea those are the things that could be added to your amazing app. Thank you for reading this.(Also l don’t mean for this review to be offensive.)
