ZoomNotes Lite is an iPad/iPhone visual note-taking app. It lets you quickly make handwritten notes and sketches on virtual paper, on PDF files, on MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint docs (via GoogleDrive), and over images. Uniquely, it also lets you zoom in and out without arbitrary limits, an invaluable feature for this type of app. It has a free fully functioning pen (although you will be able to try the pens too), and more available as in-app purchases. It has unlimited paper sizes/styles, unlimited colours and line thicknesses, and a large range of ways to share its documents making ZoomNotes the most versatile handwriting/drawing app.

Excellent app. I’m an architect and can use it to make notes or sketch on the same page. Love the nearly limitless zoom so I never run out of paper space.

Brilliant & powerful!

Incredibly powerful app. It takes a little bit of time to get used to the tools. But once you know the layout of the tools, you will be amazed at the massive functionality that is provided by this app. I love the infinite whiteboard option, the layering system, the infinite zoom, and so much more.

This is difficult to rate

This is difficult to rate because I love the app, but I’m unhappy with the way they handle in-app purchases to upgrade to the full version. It appears that you are forever stuck with the “Lite” icon, despite having paid for the full version. I know it’s a small thing, but it is irritating! Edited: Lite app with full upgrade of functions, so same as full ZoomNotes app. Ed Morgan is so active in the unofficial ZoomNotes Facebook page. He responds to queries and issues on a regular basis and each update addresses a bunch of these. But enough about Ed! The app! This app has so much more than other note taking apps. Layers, saved favorites, quick access to stickers (symbols) you use regularly, personalized colour palette....and so much more. This may take a bit of a learning curve, but oh so worth it! Thanks Ed.

Versatile and reliable

I have been searching for an app that will allow me to write notes and edit pdf documents. This does it all. The lite version is completely free and has more than enough functions to work with, and to let you use the app and get a real feel for whether you need the full version. Users who are unable to download newer apps because of iOS restrictions (I can't upgrade to much further than iOS 9), this app finally gives you everything you need. Just 1 request: if you release an upgraded version in future, please keep an older version of the app available for users who are not able to upgrade. Highly recommend this as a student with a busy schedule needing all my notes and class summaries in one place. I have completely discarded my thick file of handwritten paper notes and purchased a stylus pen instead. I would definitely recommend this app and will be recommending it to my peers at university as well.

I requested some changes to make things easier for me and they actually implemented them! Thanks! Very powerful app, which means that the interface is sometimes a little tricky. But persevere, the app's capabilities make the effort worthwhile! I use it for lecturing and taking notes - only app which is brilliant at both.
