Artrooms: Superimpose Wall Art

The concept is great. It’s easy to use. Alas the sizing of your artwork in different rooms is not very precise, and pieces often look far too big or small. You can resize them though. Although there is some capacity to adjust shadows, they rarely look realistic or convincing when viewed on anything larger than a tiny phone screen. They consistently make your work appear like it’s floating in front of the wall rather than mounted on it. Shadows often can’t be aligned with the light source(s) either which also limits believability. Some walls also have changing lighting on them, but the app doesn’t have the capacity to apply this change to your artwork - so it can appear luminescent - as it doesn’t match the shadows of the wall it’s on. While there is also some token shape adjustment for perspective on receding walls, it is way off, and doesn’t adjust the orthogonals of your piece to match the vanishing point if the height of the artwork is changed. I like that they have some layered backgrounds, so you can have the odd lead in front of your piece for realism, and the ability to add basic frames and mounts is also a plus. I also like that you can import backgrounds as well as artwork, so you can show how your work will look in a client’s room - as long as they shoot their photo ar 90° to the wall. I’m glad that they offer a discounted first month, as I cancelled my subscription an hour later after giving this app and its backgrounds a good test. This app is probably fine to show basic scale of your work, or to give potential clients a general idea of how your piece will look in their space, but nobody will believe the pictures you generate are actually in the locations you’re presenting. The obviousness of the fakery could undermine your credibility more than it helps it - which is the opposite of what apps like this are supposed to do. It’s back to my vintage, non-subscription Photoshop for me for now. It takes longer, but is so much more convincing. There are clearly plenty of other apps like this out there, and I have seen some pretty convincing results - I just wish I knew which apps people have used to generate them. It wasn’t this one.

Love how I can see my art in multiple situations. Easy to use…uploading art, choosing rooms and editing sizes are all a piece of cake.

The free part of the app certainly shows how the app works which is good. However, it is just to try as the backgrounds have watermarks which renders your image unusable. I would happily pay a one off price or an annual subscription for this app but a monthly subscription is way too much to ask. Most artists struggle so I think you are not understanding your target market. I think you would earn more in the long term if you offered fair prices as your app could become the go to app for the majority of artists out there. At this rate someone else will come along with an app at a fair price and leave this one behind.

This app seems excellent, but however hard I try I can’t subscribe. I send emails, use the contact form, message in Facebook - but nothing. No replies at all.

A great way to see your art in a natural setting - and a good way to promote your paintings. It makes a huge difference seeing your paintings on a wall in a room rather than as an isolated image. Easy to use.

Not bad but not being able to resize / scale the art while in a room is a useabilty problem from my perspective

Couldn’t export any pictures without being forced to pay for the app Very few rooms!

I have tried to save my room with artwork several times and it just saves as a blank white photo. There are also not enough vertical rooms

Would it be able to adjust the size or opacity of the drop shadow in the future?

There’s no free option, as soon as I try to upload a photo/artwork it tries to make me sign up and put for it, it says the monthly gives you unlimited uploads, surely that must mean the free version has limited uploads? Makes no sense to me I don’t want to pay for something that I have no idea how it works/ how it will use my photos rather than the example artworks
