Baby Name Genius by Nametrix

Was using this app to choose names of my first 2 kids, but it is not good after updated, i love the simple old version.

Downloaded this app a couple of months ago and it was fantastic. The best baby name app I had found so far. It had a comprehensive filter that you could tailor with so many options, finding lots of great names and suggestions. It was excellent. With this new update, they’ve taken away almost all of the features that made it so good, and have turned it into a Tinder-style swipe app. Just like literally every other baby name app out there, it’s now just a clone. While there is still a “list” option with some filters, the filter list is extremely limited compared to the previous version of this app. I’m actually so disappointed and saddened by this update and really wish I could use the older version. I tried to provide feedback to their support email but it seems the email is no longer valid, so I’m not sure what’s happening.

It’s a solid app, useful for baby names. Entertaining to look up friends’ names and learning different details and stats about each name.

I love the idea that you can find most names and year of popularity and ranking popularity for each year, plus meaning of each name, not to forget names origin The app is user friendly and can be used not only for new born’s but for history - school work, research or personal use. My name is Sebastian. Also there is a lot of names! In 2022, my name is ranked 13! So Cool! Overall like the variety of names to choose from. The data and complementary name suggestions really sold me as well as being able to do this with my partner. Where this app completely fails is this forced separation of girl/boy names and always having to toggle. It’s really annoying. And there’s no way to search unisex names. Lose the forced gender separation for 5 stars.

I have used this app for years to help name my kiddos, but I recently updated it and noticed that they have included political affiliation in the name statistics. This is absolutely ridiculous and will only serve to increase division and “otherness” as well as people judging children solely based on their name.

A few things that would improve the app: 1. An additional option that lets you “like” or “love” a name but lets you mark that you do not want to use it because you have someone too close to you with the name (a cousin, another sibling, or it’s the name of someone you don’t like). 2. A way to sort by different themes and popularities.

Loved this app, but now I can’t even open it without it crashing?
