Brian Eno : Reflection

The best of zen, solfeggio, Tibetan and ambient in an ever changing sound and artscape. Rarely can an app be called a true work of art. This is one. A groundbreaking app masterpiece evolving the very nature of art further into the digital world. Phat Bravo

"Reflection" is nothing more than an extended version of the Brian Eno's "Reflection" album on CD. You can play it day and night. Maybe the music really evolves but it is hard to say because the selection of available sounds remains the same. If you have a CD version, put on a loop and the result will be pretty much the same. If you like soundscapes and you have "Scape", also by Brian Eno, do not bother buying " Reflection". If you do not have "Scape" - buy it. You can create as good the scapes as "Reflection" or better, and you have a sense of achieving something with your own input. In "Reflection" you can do nothing by yourself.

Wake up. Hit play. Do day stuff. Hit Stop. Go to bed.

In London an endless pleasure dome. I have been listening to Mr. Eno since the 1970's. I know this may be too much information, but I have spent days, months, years being taken into the ethereal by his creations. If you wish to slip into somnolent bliss this app will carry you off, and "you will find strength in what remains behind". "That with music loud and long, I would build that dome in air, That sunny dome! those caves of ice!" Mr. Eno you are a genius. JEM

I experience an issue with the app when listening is interrupted by any notification then it pauses automatically but does not start where it left off upon playing, forcing me to restart the song each time I get a notification, causing the app to lose its purpose in playing an ongoing iterative track. This is disappointing since everything else about it is great.

Reflection is beautiful and has given me years of enjoyment. Now I wish very much that the developers would return to it and adapt it to Spatial Audio.

I can still open the app from the App Store on Apple TV but the icon is gone from my Apple TV home page. Why?

I want to love this but there’s a super shrill (12,000+hz tone- like someone standing next to you screaming Eeeeeeeeeeee) that has been introduced into the generative mix. It is ear splitting and so painful and really destroys the joy of what could be. I’m hoping it’s something that’s just part of summer, if it’s sticking around in the fall, I guess it’s time to delete this. Really sad.

I enjoy falling asleep to white noise, music, etc., And I have tried a lot of apps with good success on quite a few. I balked at the price for this one at first, but it has become the one that never gets old for me. I really hope that they Will make it available as an Apple Watch app so I can use it even when my phone isn’t nearby.

It’s a fantastic ambient music composition, and ranks among Eno’s best ambient work. But for the price, at the very least we should be able to choose between the seasons. I got it recently and therefore have “Autumn”. I would very much like to hear or see the differences in the other seasons, but they appear to be previous versions, no longer available in the app. Would the developer consider allowing the old seasons to still be chosen within the app? (If/when that happens, I’ll update to five stars!)
