Chineasy is just marvellous. I subscribed about seven months ago and have been using it daily ever since. They keep adding more features, like handwriting practice and voice recording. There is a large library of short videos and podcasts that are super helpful, wherein the creator, Shaolin, focuses on a topic, like "Six common uses of 上 (up) and 下 (down)." And you can take quizzes on words you forgot, or words in a certain category (like verbs), or all words. And, of course, it's just a beautiful app. It's got so much content, yet is clean and uncluttered. I still remember opening the app for the first time and learning the word 人. My ambition now is to be able to read classical Chinese poetry. Although I originally paid for the app on a whim, it's a whim that has definitely paid off.

Chineasy is a great app. You can learn so much for free without signing up to any subscriptions however I already knew a bit of Cantonese(traditional Chinese) and I downloaded this app to learn more but some of the words in traditional Chinese weren’t Cantonese. I even thought maybe I pressed mandarin accidentally but I checked settings and I hadn’t. I checked with my dad who is fluent in Cantonese and he said that the app was wrong The app is great but it’s unclear on what language it is teaching since half of it is incorrect and the other half is correct

Chineasy is my lifeline - on top of weekly lessons. To be perfectly honest, I’m a really bad student who doesn’t take homework seriously. Chineasy save me from real embarrassment every week at my lesson as I can dip in whenever I have a spare minute. A real life saver!

I found Chineasy after trying to use textbooks to study Chinese. The lessons on Chineasy are really enjoyable and I found it easy to maintain a consistent learning habit. The gamified learning techniques keep me engaged and motivated to improve. I can genuinely say I really look forward to practicing every time I open the app! I also really appreciate that the app offers both simplified and traditional Chinese.

The app works well to make Chinese characters more memorable, and I especially enjoy how each character is described. It would be better if there were different review games to play, for example matching exercises. If these exist already, it’s not a feature I noticed. My annual subscription elapsed and I was expecting there to be a decent discount on the lifetime subscription as it is incredibly expensive. Alas there was a discount offer but I’ve only just discovered it and a bunch of other emails from Chineasy which are all directed to the gmail promo folder; might as well be spam because I rarely check it. For the moment I have moved to other more affordable apps for learning Chinese. I’d find other apps better for learning grammar, but Chineasy is still the best for character recognition.

Chinese can be an intimidating language to learn, especially for western countries speakers, but this app does a great job at making it more accessible for everyone. Absolutely recommended!

easy to learn and easy to use

Learning some Chinese for an intellectual challenge and as I travel to China a lot, so wanted to better understand the culture through the language. This app is epic in that sense, explains the language and culture and helps visually identify Chinese words by showing them as pictures. Also there’s a daily word and podcast to round it all off. Superb, well done Chineasy!

Offers lots of information for learning Chinese. The format makes it easy to remember and fun to use!

Chineasy makes it easier the absorb and learn the language content by the relatable shapes and meanings. After leaving Shanghai in 2017 it is helping me once more to language learn again. I am grateful that it exists!
