Crouton: Recipe Manager

Importing recipes by taking a photo of a physical recipe book works the best of any recipe management app I’ve tried. UI is great! But… there are some bugs, some periodically odd UI choices, etc.

Crouton Recipe manager is in a quite good place, but it is not up to scratch yet. Even with the Crouton Plus add-on, I could not easily import recipes from other apps, and importing photos was nigh on impossible without saving the photo to disk and adding the photos from there. While good in some features, the tags, folders & meal types etc need a fair amount of work to make it workable. There is no perfect recipe app that I know of, but one or two of them are way ahead of Crouton.

Absolutely incredible app, with very thoughtful features. The household sharing features are particularly handy. I particularly like the two different premium options. Plus (non-subscription) covers most of the features I need. I understand the subscription option is also required for the advanced features. The developer Devin is also super responsive and open to feedback. Cannot recommend enough.

This is the Best & Easiest Meal Planner I’ve found. Very intuitive to use immediately from download. Syncs ingredients with iOS Reminder Shopping List which makes planning and adding only the ingredients you need so easy. Import recipes from copied website addresses easy also. Highly recommend.

I love how I can wink to progress through the steps in the method while cooking. No need to touch the screen with dirty hands. Genius!

I feel like I have used all the apps, for last few years settled on CookBook (which is really good!) but this app is just better for me. I bought it because I love all the little touches, it feels SO much more premium than its competitors, and then I discovered two things I didn’t even know I needed but are amazing: - it imports groceries into the systems groceries reminder list. Which I share with my wife. This means it automatically gets the smart categorisation AND it is one click works into my flow. - website feeds. I didn’t even know my favourite recipe websites had this and then i buy the subscription import a recipe and suggests a feed. And that feed is super useful! Anyway kudos to the developer. Clearly a details and polish person. My only ask is that the Notes section of eg recipetineats.com doesn’t get recognised on import, but other apps do.

In my existing recipes I've saved in Paprika, for some recipes, I've added step by step photos, or added photos to some steps. There's no ability, or I can't add or assign an image to steps or ingredients. Often when a recipe says cut thin, - like how thin, so I like having images or watching a video. I also want an option to add more description or another link, because a lot of recipes have a blog or web page and a video on YouTube.

This is the recipe book that I have been looking for for ages. If we could have a star rating for our recipes as well that would complete a fantastic app.

Can you add traditional Chinese as I would love to share it to my friends. Couldn’t extract the recipe from the YouTube information box. Other than those are great and the app is quite user friendly than the others!
