Crouton: Recipe Manager

I have been looking for a way to organize my recipes and plan meals quickly for a while. I gave up on Notion and other manual processes because it was too time-consuming and became a hassle every week trying to figure out what to eat. This app solves everything, has a great UI, AND it’s affordable. I’m doing the free trial right now, but I can definitely see myself making the full purchase soon! I love that there’s a one-time purchase option as well ❤️ Thank you so much for making this app!!

parfait!!

I bought the premium expecting it to sync my account between my MacBook and my iPhone. I spent an hour collecting my fave recipes, went onto my phone and it’s blank… I don’t want my laptop in the kitchen when I’m cooking with my family. Great app otherwise.

This is my second time giving a five star review unprompted. This is just such a perfect ad. Fair pricing, one time purchase, incredibly intuitive and constantly adding new features. I wish all software was this good, reliable, and ethically priced. I genuinely can’t say enough good things and always try to convince my friends to buy it. THANK YOU!

Design language is very similar to Apple’s, it’s intuitive, you can scale recipes, easily convert between imperial & metric, easily manage multiple timers in app and import recipes super easily from websites and other sources. The one-time purchase is definitely worth it. There is a subscription service for their AI features but you can easily turn all of that stuff off in settings if you want it hidden away. My only real complaint is how the groceries system works. The lack of integration with Apple’s new groceries feature is annoying for me. I use the new feature all the time as it sorts things automatically and is better integrated in Apple’s ecosystem, but I cannot add to the Apple’s groceries list inside the app. I don’t know if this is something that is possible for Crouton to do, but if it is I would like to see it implemented. If Crouton cannot add groceries to Apple’s groceries list, than I would like to see similar functionality in Crouton.

The scan ingredients and method option don’t work. I can use this option one time, after which the button becomes unresponsive.

Like the title says, it is a fantastic app. The best out there for recipes in my opinion. However, when I bought it a month ago everything worked perfectly fine. Since last week or so, importing recipes freezes after pasting the url. I see all the ingredients imported as well as the steps but I cannot scroll or click the Add button at the top right corner. Will change it back to 5 stars once it is fixed (the 4 stars is just so the developper sees my review).

Love the app been using it for almost a year now it's awesome unfortunately with the latest update that you did you broke it I can no longer add any recipes after I purchase the $20 thing to make it unlimited. Please fix the app so I can continue to use it.

I randomly stumbled on this app on Mastodon and I’m very glad I did. It’s a lot better than most of the other ones I’ve tried that never stuck, so I finally replaced my big Recipes folder in Notes. Love that there’s a single in-app purchase for the core functionality, and not just a subscription. Though even the subscription is very reasonably priced, so I’m trying that out now as well (super appreciate the “why is this a sub” alert - great idea). My only major wish is an improved grocery UX. 1) I wish the keyboard would show up right away - the keypad seems redundant since the amounts are detected from text. 2) I want a + on the bottom. 3) Would _love_ to see auto-completion and auto-sorting like in the Grocery app (or even manual ordering for a start). Great app, and congrats on the new release! :)
