Dr. Moku's Katakana Mnemonics

Very simple and very effective! Hands down quickest way to learn Kana

Struggling to get started with Japanese, but the mnemonic system has been a revelation. Three weeks in and I’m fluent in reading and listening hiragana and katakana and moving on.

Good app but crashes everytime you take the quiz, would advise you not buy until you see it's been fixed. Then I would highly recommend.

App is all good other from when u want to take a quiz and when it shows 2 of the same answer u click on 1 and it marks the other one right and changes it to different katakana. For example when u go to have the test it will show u a pic of "ha" and u can choose from ha, ha, to and ke. I click on one of the "ha"'s and it will say I'm wrong and say the other "ha" is right one and it will change it to "se". This does not do it in the hiragana app So could u get it fixed as soon as possible as I need it to study for Japanese at school This app is a 5 star app if that could please be fixed Thanks :)

Great idea, and well presented, but the examples aren't so good, and often don't relate to the sounds. The symbol mu (as in mood) for instance, shows a picture of a wannabe MUscle man, which isn't so much a mnemonic for mu as in mood as it is a mnemonic for mu as in mud. Is it an accent thing? Are there accents of English for which muscle and mood have the same mu/moo sound? I can't think of any. Perhaps use an image of a moon buggy or a movie camera, or anything else with the sound mu in the next update. It'd be wise for the developers to review the other cards too, to make sure it's the English SOUND rather than the English SPELLING that prompts the various kana.

Don’t get me wrong. The connect is wonderful. It truly helps you to learn Japanese. However, the apps requires a lot maintenance. Simple things like screen rotation and multitasking are not really implemented (just to mention a few). I agree that taken this into account the app is expensive. But I feel like you are paying more for the concept behind it than the app development.

After update to V3.0 the ‘audio chart’ and ‘quick reference’ have now hiragana characters in it instead of katakana. Please change back as it defeats the purpose of this app!! Thank you:)

I love the app but my suggestion is please add the option of viewing the missed characters after the quiz.

Amazing app! I honestly learned Hiragana and katakana within an hour each. (One hour for Hiragana. Another hour for katakana). It was truly helpful and fun to learn. They even have a small update that lets you play cross word puzzles so you can also practice your Japanese and some vocabulary (there isn’t much vocabulary but it does get you started on learning).
