Fastmail – Email & Calendar

If the app isn't fully awake when an email comes in, the archive command from pushing on the notification won't actually be applied and the email will stay in the inbox. Even if the email is archived successfully, the badge number won't be accurate until you open the app

The Fastmail app is generally good, but I’d want to see better integration with native contacts and calendar apps

The Fastmail service is excellent overall. I’ve used it for nearly a decade (with the Apple Mail app) with no issues. However, the Fastmail app isn’t quite as reliable. Every time I get a notification about a new email message, I open the app and then have to manually pull-to-refresh to see the email it just notified me about. I have Background App Activity enabled, so I don’t understand why it notifies me about messages before they are actually visible in my inbox. Second, often after I read a new email, the red notification badge remains on the app icon even though there are no longer unread emails. It stays there until a new email comes in and I read that new email. This happens frequently – almost daily. Finally, the menu system is a bit unintuitive. For example when reading an email there are two “…” buttons on the screen, each with different menu options. Whenever I go to “Pin” (flag) an email, I inevitably pick the wrong menu first. It’s so frustrating. If these small issues could be resolved then I wouldn’t hesitate to give this app five stars. As mentioned above, the fundamental email service is excellent. It’s just the app that’s disappointing.

Good features for an encrypted email service. Developer's response to email questions is excellent. I gave it 3 stars because of recent price hikes: before there were plans at $10, $20 and $40 per year; now the cheapest plan is $30 per year. No thanks.

I’ve had several mail services and the service is very good thus far for what I’m looking for. The app though on iPadOS giving me the option to be in Desktop view with a complete sidebar really impressed me, every other service treats iPad like a mobile device still. THANK YOU for giving us this feature (amongst other things!)

They fired many US employees because they were in a union. This company should not exist anymore.

I like Fastmail the company, but this app constantly has issues. I have to frequently reset it because it only loads a blank page. Today it isn’t loading anything at all, so I can’t check my email on mobile.

YO this app has been around since 2014? This is a paid subscription service that I have been a customer of, for years now. In 10 years you couldn’t make a native app? We’re stuck forever with this web app, seriously? Why can we not get a native app already? I don’t understand this. How many free email apps are out there, and meanwhile an ostensibly profitable SAAS business cannot muster the resources to make a native iOS/iPadOS app (MacOS would be sweet, too) that has offline support and keyboard support. Instead, I’m stuck with mail.app and its broken email follow up reminders that I can’t turn off for the love of all that is holy. Please make us an app.
