The most tedious game in the series
I bought this after enjoying FF4. It is a tale-based game, which in theory switches things up and could make it more interesting, but in reality it’s incredibly tedious levelling characters up from scratch at the start of each tale, especially characters you will never see again. Trying to obtain 100% bestiary is even more tedious as some rare enemies are so powerful you must grind for hours in order to avoid an instant game over. I have a lot of patience but farming such enemies for rare tails is just never going to happen. And you must level up because if you don’t you’ll get to the final tale and get instant game over the moment you enter Eblan Cave. This is the first and only FF game that I’ve given up on - and there have been some awful games. Don’t waste your money.
3 years later....
Good game but it's been out for 3 years and there's still bugs. Wtf sort it out square and stop being cheap
Same game as FF1V?
My title says it all, the story is almost the same as FF1V however it was still very enjoyable.
There are some great new gameplay aspects and the fragmented story pulls together well at the end.
See my review for IV
Same applies here. Only disappoint is no voice overs for this one.
Addictive
Didn't think I'd like this because the older version wasn't that good and it's episodic. This on the other hand is a very good remake and well enjoyable. Well done Sqeenix.
A very average final fantasy game
Was expecting this game to be a lot better than it was.
Lost its charm when it was converted to 3d. After all, that was the point of this game, nostalgia of old school graphics.
Levels, world, plot, bosses, were rehashed from the original ff4. With little after years development to satisfy.
Glad, but why 3D/horrible low-res textures?
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see this title arrive on iOS having never played this before and being a great fan of Final Fantasy IV, but why did it have to be released in 3D with really low quality, Nintendo DS like textures and models? When compared with the 2D PSP version, which had very nice animations and graphics (Google it), this version looks terrible. £10.99 is a little on the pricey side too.
Ok
Decent remake
Fun, but a bit too easy
If you’re a Final Fantasy veteran, you’ll probably get through 80 percent of this game on auto battle like I did. This game also makes heavy use of the underground waterway between Kaipo and Damcyan, which gets a little dull. I also could’ve done without the Edward storyline, as he’s still the weakest and therefore most inconsequential character. (His hover car is missing here, and that was the most useful thing about him in the first game!) A character I had been building gets killed off near the end of the game, which forced me to grind to get through. This is an apparently low budget project, as there isn’t much new material here. Still, this game is worth playing if you’re a Final Fantasy fan.
