No one time purchase, only expensive subscription - a big no go for me.
I love the simplicity of the app and the fact that I can easily export my annotations to markdown. The table export feature is also super handy. However, the app is not useable with large PDFs. The app freezes regularly and annotations are lost. I really tried to make it work, but the fact that annotations are lost and I need to re-read sections defeats purpose of the app.
Very much like the app and the way it helps me creating summaries and overviews of documents! Two things are missing in my opinion, one major and one nice to have: Major issue: The search function ctrl f. First off, I would love to have a counter next to it where it shows me how many hits the search got. secondly, when jumping through the search results, it would be nice to be able to see on which result out of the total I am ("result 4 of 23"). Also a feature where I could see in a side menue a quick context for the search result would be great (think like Words shift cmd h function). further, a functionality where I can search through my annotations and comments would be cool (but of secondary importance to an improved search fuciton for the main document). Secondly, the nice to have: being able to freehand draw and annotate the documents using the apple pencil would be cool. all in all still like the app, certainly better than adobe, but with an improved search function I would love it.
I love the idea of this app and use it as often as I can but it freezes quite regularly. This is not what I expected when I paid for the app.
Very capable and well made.
I have no idea what I’m doing
Was my favorite but nah it became useless when it had bugs
Almost amazing, has some issues with certain documents where text highlights are wayy off from where the text appears rendering the app useless for some documents. The pro version is subscription instead of a one time purchase which is upsetting, especially when other alternatives always have a one time purchase option. Reached out via email too but was never responded to. Might eventually switch over, I don’t need many advanced features but I would like enhancing features without having to pay for it forever.
Can’t search in PDF documents
I bit the bullet and subscribed to this app, knowing (and hoping) that something better comes along that doesn’t require a pricey subscription to do something so relatively simple. Exporting highlights and notes from a PDF shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg and should be better managed by native tools. For the price, it lacks some basic features like the ability to add bookmarks and makes navigating lengthy PDFs cumbersome. To the developers… please add different page options for viewing PDFs, like single page turns as opposed to continuous scrolling. Some of us don’t like scrolling, and prefer the hard clean transition of a traditional page turn. Having these options would at least make this feel like the most basic of PDF viewers. The app does it what it’s supposed to do well, namely exporting highlights and notes in markdown, but is overpriced for the main functionality. If it were more imaginative, and offered additional value, I’d consider something like this, but for now am hoping that tools like omnivore and others improve their PDF annotating.
