Wouldn’t let me use the app unless I signed up to the free premium trial (which then automatically charges you for the year if you don’t cancel). I thought this would be a free app but all the useful features are blocked behind a pay wall.
This was a good feature for language practice and meeting people, why get rid of it?

I loved this app, as a uni student studying languages, but since the price increase, I can no longer afford it, and I am really upset about that. It was great at around £3.79 a month, but £9.99? Sorry but no, I can’t afford that. If you go back to the original price, i’d rate it 5 stars, but now it’s 2 at most.
I am currently learning Korean with weekly lessons and using apps such as Duolingo. I find having a teacher to be the best method for language learning however between lessons it can be difficult to find an answer to your questions! HiNative bridges that gap and has a fantastic community for answering questions. It is particularly great at checking if your work is ‘Natural’ which can only be answered by a native of fluent speaker. Best thing is, HiNative is pretty much free, I personally subscribe to the premium version as it is only a few pounds a month. If you find yourself asking questions about a language and don’t know where to turn, trying out this app is a must!
I’ve used HiNative on and off for years now, and the monetisation of everything is ruining the app. You now have to pay to ask questions! How is that not going to reduce the number of active users?
An app with no content whatsoever, it’s just a forum. It’s also a forum where a huge amount of dumb questions are asked such as “Is France a nice place to live”? Without a paid account you can’t even post a question, there are many better forums out there - for free.
Tried this app for a few weeks and grew increasingly frustrated with it constantly resetting my requested translation language to the source language! Also far too easy to choose a premium version.
Super useful app for language learners, it’s great because you can get multiple responses from native speakers and also ask questions about culture. The premium version is also very affordable and worth it. There is something I think would improve this app though: - I often like to use this app as a dictionary almost and look up the most casual way to say something (which can be done in the search engine with the language selected), however I think it would be REALLY helpful if you could filter it. For example I would type up a word in my native language and then select “example sentences” if that’s what I specifically wanted. I highly recommend this app, it’s very user friendly and SUPER helpful for language learners. 😄😄
It is absolutely lovely there is so many people to help out with languages there is so many people willing to help with outstanding answers really REALLY GOOD app id say everyone go get it now!
