iCollect Books: Library List

All my entries disappeared one day and when I contacted customer service their suggestion was to try logging out and back in. I can’t log back in because my password is “wrong” and I can’t reset or retrieve it either since my email is not in their database. Their suggestion now is that I create a new account.. yeah, right! No refund either of course 😡

Since this app doesn't even include DDC or LCC category code metadata, and that you need to pay to save more than a mere ten books, makes any serious use of this app impossible.

The lack of books in the data base really pulls down the rate. I got the pro version of the app in order to quickly and easily get an overview of my personal library at home. Turned out that half of the books I scanned were not in the system and in order to register these, I had to take a picture, add title and author to each and one of them. Hence, the bulk scanning function was not really of use. I think the idea of the app is genius and I would have rated it much higher if only more books were in the database already. Worth mentioning is that I don't have old and odd books, however many are Swedish which should not be a limitation (if so, this should have been stated before the purchase of it). If I would have known this issue, I wouldn't have bought the pro version, which to me now is way overpriced. The process of getting a documentation of my library now is quite time consuming. It would have been quicker to note them in an Excel sheet as my first intention was. The shortcut I thought I would take with this app, turned out to be the opposite. And I paid for it.

I've tested all book manage apps I've found in the App store and this one is absolutely best for synching between devices, it synchs automatically without connecting to a computer or e-mailing. But entering new books to your collection is a time consuming work and I don't understand why, some other apps, especially one, gets it right almost every time with covers and all, that app searches on google books, please approve, I'm having a hard time deciding which app to use for my large collection, wish you got as many hits as the other one.

As of 7/19/24, the max allowed of books scanned in for free is 30. This is ridiculous, as anybody who is scanning ISBN’s to add to a list has a large quantity of books

I love this app, I can take pictures of my books, organize them pretty much however I like, as well as change the organization easily. It helps me know exactly what I have, making it easy when I go book shopping what I have or need. There are a few annoying bugs in the app. Sometimes when I am putting in a new books info it changes to another book I have already put it! I don’t understand how this happens but it has occurred several times. I’m working down the list of info and them some I haven’t entered is already filled in, then I scroll to the top and see that I am now altering a previous book entry. So I have to back out without saving changes so not to alter a current entry and start over. Also when downloading the app on my tablet I see that several of my entries (originally set up on my phone) have reverted back to their original images from a chosen book entry, instead of the ones I changed them too (but only on my tablet, the images on my phone are correct) So I had to go in through my tablet and change/add the photos again. However I am enjoying the app and hoping that these small programing errors will be fixed in the future.

The app is easy to use and has settings to set how you want your list to show. The app, only allows you to add 30 books. Once you’ve added 30 you’ll need to pay. It’s a little more than I was looking to pay, but over all is a nice app.

This app does exactly what it says for books, really very pleased with it and feel confident my book collection is recorded properly. Love it!

$30 to have more than 50. $30. Insane.
