Love this for organising events and having it all on one format. An absolute revelation!
Excellent calendar and tasks app does everything to keep my life organised
My first review of Informant for iOS was written in 2011 (back when it was called Pocket Informant Pro). One thing that's always been clear is that the people behind the app are passionate about making it the best app possible. They are highly responsive (there's a feedback feature inside the app) and welcome discussion of new or changed features. The app is constantly being enhanced, and bugs are fixed quickly. Informant 5 is no small update, but I had no problem getting used to the changes. The new menu button is very clever, and I like the way it occupies minimal screen space unless you're actually using it (unless the previous tabs). That allows the menu-items to be larger for easy access. My favourite feature has always been templates. I had lots of templates for events and tasks, and this saved me a lot of time. My initial alarm at the loss of templates hasn't totally gone away. Their replacement - triggers - seems far more useful, but at the moment there's a bug that means you can't save some fields in the trigger. I'm sure this will be resolved soon (it has been Christmas after all). For those who haven't used an earlier version, why is Informant so good? It's well designed, with everything being presented clearly. The multiple views of the calendar are all useful. My favourite is the week view, but I actually do use all the views from the "agenda" or list-format, through to the year view. The most useful thing though is that Informant can be used as a simple meeting/task/diary/notes app, but as your needs grow you can make use of the power of Informant - using projects, for example. Tasks and sub-tasks. It's easy to outgrow the many productivity apps that look beautiful and are simple. I know - I've tried many! Informant is a very mature app and it shows. It's has an abundance of reliable features, and - for those who want to - extensive customisation is available. Highly recommended.
Well, it finally happened. I've been using informant 5 for years, but I can no longer justify the inflated cost. It’s never been the very attractive calendar, but having my tasks, events and notes all in one app was the feature I needed to keep me organized, and I got use to it. But going from the free version, to paying for a “one time” payment for the premium features (which I did back in the day), to the $.99 a month, to $1.99 a month, to $6.99 a quarter, to now $9.99 a quarter?!? I’m out! Canceled my subscription and tried out TimePage, which is the by far the best looking calendar I have ever downloaded. Similar from a functional level as well, so I went ahead and paid for annual subscription, which I might add is considerably cheaper than informant.
What’s the point in even having a widget I can look at to see my upcoming appointments if it doesn’t update? Only if I open the app will it update the widget, but then I don’t need the widget, do I! I have relied on (Pocket) Informant since the PDA days and things have gone way downhill. I want to use it as my main calendar tool as I love the agenda view, but it has to do the basic things right. This issue with widgets has been reported at least since early last year, and ignored. Sad, as there’s so much potential.
This is the best calendar app. One feature it has that almost no other app has is that you can set multiple notifications for an event, not one or two.
I’m a productivity app connoisseur and this has consistently been my favorite and go-to for years.
I have just cancelled my trial subscription. In addition to features not working seamlessly with other programs or not working at all, there are issues with response time.
I don’t write reviews. But I’ve been using Informant since 2011, when it was called Pocket Informant. I always say that if something happened to this app, I would simply cease to exist. It is the most important app on my phone. It contains my life. Every event and task. If the owners even consider end of life, I would try to buy it and run it myself. I simply couldn’t live without it.
