Manga Rock 2016-17 was very different from the one now. I keep coming back to the app hoping they’ve gone back to the old process but the new app is just terrible. You don’t find your old data and you don’t get many Japanese mangas.
Never download it. It is just pay to read and you can read for free on google easily.
I’ve been a manga rock subscriber since the days of the Google Nexus 5. I respect the work that the team at ‘Not a basement studio’ did. I’ve gotten several people to download the app and some of them even paid for it! Inkr went the push bullet way :(
Definitely not the return of mangarock. This app barely has any popular Japanese manga, and the ones it has barely has any chapters available.
The app is very smooth and it is so much better than any other manga app that I’ve used. I’ve been beta tester since the start and the only thing till now that is a deal breaker for me is the lack japanese manga collection.
The yearly sub is a pretty decent value if you grab it during the frequent half off sales, but recently there has been a lot of stuff that is categorized wrong. Tags are used inconsistently, MxM content was always labeled as BL, but now some stuff is using Yaoi or Shounen Ai. And some heterosexual romances on the app are labeled Boy's Love/Yaoi/Shounen Ai for some reason? Feels like an AI is just labeling anything with two dudes on the cover as gay... I sent in a customer service ticket about a manga having a flawed upload (1 page instead of the whole volume) and it still has not been fixed almost a month later. No communication at all. The work is still being sold on the app, without a disclaimer that it's bugged.
i’ve been charged multiple times trying to get the premium membership and inkr every time says purchase unsuccessful while still charging me LOL…. reached out to support and got ghosted my best advice is if it doesn’t work the first time don’t try again like me because you’ll just be out $5 and still not have the premium membership
They tell you you'll get a reward through the app for signing up then take your email and don't give you anything
I tried the trial period for this app thinking the books would be at least remotely interesting. But they weren’t. They were lackluster, boring, and felt like I was reading wattpad stories written by kids. I canceled my trial period before they could charge me for it, and they still charged me $60. They will not give me a refund even though I canceled the trial period and had the app deleted before the trial period was even over. Also they don’t make it easy to cancel your trial periods. You have to jump through a lot of hoops to figure it out. Just a bad app, and a waste of money. You can read these same books on another app or website for free if you really wanted to.
The UI is beautiful but make it like manga rock where it shows what chapter and volume I’m on, instead of that dumb scroll bar make it where we can press a grid button and see the pages like on manga rock
