Been an IOS app, I’ve never had a single service that was subscription based and had external payment systems. I am not sure if this is against IOS policy or not. They charge us ongoing, no warnings no receipts of payment no nothing. Would give 0 stars for this alone if I could.
Lack of contents, greedy price.
This app doesn’t have all the mangas that manga rock has and what’s worse is $8 isn’t even worth the price for a mouthy due to lack of content and ads. Guess I have to find another manga app this. You disappoint me.
The new app is full of boring contents and weird stuffs.
I spent the $7.99 monthly so I could read manga without ads and to support the app creators ... However, there are still ads, and the manga I’m reading hasn’t been updated in a long time, even though on other platforms, it has many more chapters. Whilst the quality of the manga, at least the one I’m reading (Noragami), is phenomenal, it doesn’t get updated at all? I’m a little confused, and I’ve tried to find information on it through the app, but I can’t. I also can’t find why I’m still getting ads despite paying for premium. Since INKR came out and added To Your Eternity, there have been 94 chapters. Months have gone by, and no new ones have been added despite the manga being at well over 100 chapters. It’s quite disappointing, and I plan to cancel my subscription. $7.99 is not worth it for what the app holds, I’m afraid. I’m really sorry, guys. I’m sure you’re doing your absolute best, and that’s admirable. But $7.99 a month is a bit unfair considering I can get more manga that updates regularly on Shounen Jump for $2.99 monthly. Hopefully things will change eventually..!
I think it’s wonderful how I can still read for free with the INKR Extra Passes by completing the available challenges. And the challenges also give some less popular texts more exposure. Considering the different policy (especially in terms of sourcing and publishing) between MR and this new platform INKR, I think it’s a job well done! It’s expected that since it’s still quite a young app the selection isn’t as vast as MR which only had a large library since it had been operating for 7 years(?) at the point of closure. It’s also understandable that some Japanese manga would also be unavailable due to legal issues despite everyone else comparing this app to MR but I think there is still a good range of comics, manhua, manhwa and manga. So, good job guys :) The only thing I would like to suggest though is that ‘subscribed’ and ‘read later’ libraries, etc., can be sorted alphabetically as well rather than just: ‘last read’, ‘last updated’, and ‘last added’.
They want 8 dollars for a subscription with hardly any library. Stick with SJ
1) The INKR app and site still have a rather small selection of manga. INKR is increasing its library almost weekly but it still has a long way to go. Despite this it does have a lot of major titles and I’m assuming as the site grows more studios will be comfortable with working with them. 2) the app from my experience is one of the best at least compared to ones like mangareader and other illegal manga apps. The INKR app is smooth and usually very easy to use. It may very rarely suffer a crash or occasionally stutter a bit but other wise it has to be one of the best on the market. 3) it’s legal and is working with these manga studios. A lot of small manga artists are badly effected by illegal sites and I think what INKR has done has allowed for the best of both words. It allows access to manga for free while still encouraging and financing the mangas we love. Overall currently if u want manga it might not have the biggest selection but it does have one of if not the best apps and is legal. Plus it’s legal and helps my favourite creators so they can continue to produce manga. For that I give it 5 stars.
Loved the old app but am happy they have moved to a design that can support manga artists. In saying that while I understand and support the idea...I will have to check back on the app in a few months as it hardly has anything on it. Currently found a lot of web comics (which I already read) and more adult comics I’m not interested in reading. Hopefully more classic Shoujo manga appears!!
