iWriteMusic Pro

I recently downloaded this as a solution for needed to write music exercises for students on the spot, tailored for their level. It is easy to notate and I love the keyboard option for input. I immediately upgraded from SE and bought Pro. I love the app, and will hopefully figure this out soon. Thank you for such a useful tool!

This app is fairly simple to use and intuitive - it meets my needs of writing out simple melodies and arrangements for my students. It is frustrating that the app kicks me out frequently whenever I try to add another harmony line or track. Thankfully it saves my work from where I left off - but considering that I’m paying for the app it’s a design flaw.

A lot to figure out here. Some things like note entry is imaginative and intuitive. Haven’t figured out how to insert measures. There must be a way!

This app is impossible to use and it is not fun, I am familiar with many of the notation programs and as a music teacher I could never recommend this app to my students,

I have used this app for several years to write drum & percussion scores. Unfortunately, this app has limited support for drums & percussion. I have to make textual notes and use non-standard drum notation in certain parts (i.e. drum rolls, ghost notes, riffs, etc.). Although, I haven’t learned of any music notation apps that truly support drums. However, my greatest complaint with this software is the fact that it crashes too often. I must remember to save frequently. Being focused on my work, occasionally I’ll work for an hour or more, forget to save, then suddenly a crash occurs (usually when using the eraser tool to remove a small item). This is very aggravating, especially when an hour or more of work is lost. Using a timer is critical to remind me to save periodically.

I’ve been using—and gradually learning—iWrite Music for more than a year. I use it to write exercises and to transpose fake sheets for jazz tunes, including chord symbols. I’m a cellist trying to learn jazz. Every time I think iWrite can’t do something, it turns out I’m wrong. It’s a good deal! The hitch is that there isn’t a lot of English language support material to read, no complete English manual. The good news is that if you can’t figure out something from the command outline or the videos on YouTube, there’s excellent tech support via email. Kazuo has usually provided careful, clear answers to emails I’ve sent…often on the same day, almost always within two days.

But sometimes the directions are hard to follow, e.g. for COPY- PASTE, I had to go online and learned that you ID a position and skipping to the end of what you want to copy and ID that position; then the paste overwrites rather than inserts.

totally unintuitive

I just bought this app. It’s so easy and efficient to use. Thank you! One wish is to make it possible to enter notes by name. My fingers are clumsy, often write on the wrong line.
