KDE Connect

My iPhone refuses to connect via USB, and I’m out of space, so I turn to kde connect for solutions. After some config wrestling, it’s sending data, yay! However, the phone app data keeps growing as I send photos and movies. It held on to whatever ghost data it had even after restarting the handset, so I uninstalled it to reinstall it to free up that hidden cache data. Not impressed, but not upset.

Yeah, can’t say much more really enjoy using the program. If I had to request one thing I’d ask for photos (and maybe videos) to be saved directly to gallery because that’s the main place on an iPhone I would access photos from any app. Files is not an app I commonly access nor is it something other apps can conveniently access.

Apple must have recently changed something iOS, because it used to be easy to just plug your phone in, navigate to the file folder, and move the pictures and videos to your pc. Now, you can only do one picture at a time (videos still work fine for some reason), it’s a downscaled version of it, and it won’t move half the time, only copy. KDE Connect works perfectly to solve that problem. It’s not quite as fast as the direct transferring used to be, but since that’s no longer an option, this gets the job done well.

I use it transfer photos between iPhone and Linux Mint, If I select one photo and send it to my PC it works fine. But when I select multiple photos then it stalls randomly and doesn’t provide any progress indicator on the phone.

I already had KDE Connect on my laptop. Pairing to KDE Connect on my iPhone was simple.

I really fell in love with this app during the TestFlight betas, but now it is much less useful. It used to work over a wireguard connection, so I could sent files to my desktop, even when I was out and about. Now it will not connect through my wireguard connection, and can only reach my desktop when WiFi is active and they are on the same physical network.

this made my linux experience drastically better, I use Linux Mint BTW

Easy to configure and I can now send information back and forth from my phone to my Linux computer

I left during the old KDE 3.x days because I reluctantly switched to Mac for work, and I’ve just returned and MAN KDE IS KILLING IT! Obviously thanks to the great work by all the developers such as these guys on the KDE Connect team. Great work, fellas.

doesn't pair with windows... it worked some earlier versions, now it doesn't anymore.
